What year/ type car do you have? If it's an LNF (SS/TC) this is a common problem. Go to the 08-09 SS general discussion area. There is a huge thread at the top dedicated to this problem. If that's the case the cause is as follows: Most likely the rear pads are a little too aggressive for normal street use and need some heat/abuse to make them not grind. The slide pins in the calipers come ungreased from the factory causing the calipers to bind and the rear pads, especially the inner rear pad to drag and grind the **** out of the rotor. Pull the rear pads out and check them. Put a whole bunch of the brake quiet goop on the back of the pads and put them back in. At the same time lube up the slide pins and where the tabs of the pads slide on the caliper. Check to make sure your rotor isn't scored. This fixed the problem for me except for when it's cold out they need a little heat in them to not make noise. If this does not help you could always get some aftermarket pads like Hawk or EBC, this is what alot of people have done. Even simpler explanation would be if you didn't drive the car for a few days and the rotors got a little rusty, and the grinding is just the pads wearing the rust off.

Under what conditions are you getting the noise? Did you pull the pads and check them out or just look though the wheels. Is there any scoring/grooving on the rotors? Where does the sound seem to be coming from?
