Clutch Master Firewall Tabs Broke
Hey guys in a bit of a jam, anyone that had the problem please help. One of the tabs that holds the clutch master cylinder onto the firewall broke, so the cylinder come out. Anyone ever have this problem? Anyone can advise me how to go about fixing this without removing the dash and firewall part? I was just going to weld it back into place and reinforce with a washer or something. This is seriously the stupidest design, why couldn't they make it bolt to the firewall like every other company...any help is appreciated, thank you.

I know this is an older post but, I am going through this right now... Expect for this my clutch pedal assembly is going through the firewall when i push in the clutch... the plastic around it cracked. Does anyone know what i can do to fix this, is there a recall or can i buy this part and fix it myself?

Im having the same problem! anyone know how to fix it? The master c. does not seem to be bad just the bracket or holding of the master cylinder. any help would be appreciated.

My firewall tabs also just went out and my cylinder is just hanging out when I pump the clutch.
Does anyone know how to fix this issue. I drive a 2006 cobalt ss.
Would I have to replace the firewall?

I have seen this before. If the tabs are broken or bent on the "firewall" you'll have to replace the Mod Plate. The Mod plate is the metal plate they bolt onto the firewall that mounts the pedals, booster, ect. Bending the tabs back won't fix it, they will just bend back eventually! You will have to remove the whole dash, pedal assy and all other associated parts so you can unbolt the mod plate and replace it. Make sure you have a good seal between the mod plate and the firewall or else you will have a water leak. It sucks, but its not too bad if you take your time and keep everthing organized.
