hey, its a code reader...as long as it reads codes its all good. personally im going with the OBDPro which hooks up to my laptop and reads real time data, gauges, and codes...and its only like 90 bucks for the usb one

Honestly id spend the money and get an Actron OBD II code reader. That one dosent look bad but you can get the Actron with software that has all the code definitions. I was thinking of gettin this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Actro...QQcmdZViewItem

The scanner port is under the wheel, just right of your hood release.
That scanner says its not CAN compliant so it actually shouldn't work with our cars, our cars run off a high speed CAN system. If it does its only gonna be generic data.
This also wont let you clear ABS, Air Bag, BCM and other codes.

I have the actron scanner. got it at auto zone for like 150$. well anyways my scanner port is not responding when i hook it up now. my car is NOT under warrenty any more so can any one tell me what i should do?

I bought the Actron scanner, and despite their web site saying that "all their scanners are CAN compliant" it clearly doesn't work on the Cobalt. Works perfectly on my other car though, but its OBD I and the data it gives isn't as interesting as it would be with OBD II.
