Is your brake light switch staying on? If so it won't engage.

The switch behind the brake pedal that turns on the brake lights. As soon as the brakes are hit the cruise control turns off. So if the switch is on when its not supposed to the brake lights will be on when your not on the pedal and the cruise control wont work.

Mine does the same thing. It has to do with the clutch being suppressed while driving or some thing along those lines. It throws a code, but the cel doesn't come on.You have to clear the code at the dealer or unhook the battery for a bit.

There's a topic some where on here about.

Hmmm....
Were you pressing resume instead of set when you were setting the speed?
I think I remember doing that and it said it was engaged, but it was set for 0 MPH cause I had just turned on cruise control.

Here ya go. The code is thrown if you put even the slightest pressure on the clutch "rest your foot, but not actually suppressing it." Look at the 7th post.

On some balts, GM put a felt pad on the brake pedal and the felt gets compressed over time. The switches are so precise that even the thickness of that felt being compressed will keep your cruise from working.

GM put that on the clutch pedal cruise release switch too. If you have an SS/SC or others with manual trannys, check both.

The problem is a code that gets through by the clutch switch. You won't get a CEL but it will cause the cruise to stop working. Just unplug the battery for a while to reset it or if you have an interceptor you can clear the code or take it to autozone and they can clear it.

It is because you have thrown a Clutch Pedal code! If you do not let completely off the clutch at least 1 time out of 7 pushes it will throw that code which disables your cruise control! I had to relearn how to drive a stick at first because it happend to me 3 times... I haven't had it now in almost 2 years now!
