E-Brake wont work at all

i usually let my car warm up before i leave in the morning but today when i started it and was about to get out it started rolling back...so i pushed the brake in and pulled up on the ebrake as far as it would go and it still rolled back...

1. the brake light is still on

2. and ive noticed when driving a few weeks back the ebrake light will flash for a split second..

whats wrong??

Ttt.

There are two cables, one for each rear caliper, that apply the brakes when the e-brake is pulled. The two cables attach to a H shaped piece under the e-brake handle which attaches to the handle itself. If the cable(s) stretch, or if the springs on the rear caliper(s) that attach to the e-brake cables stop working the e-brake cables can "slip out" of the H shaped piece. If that happens you will no longer have an e-brake. If the car is still under warranty then take it into the dealership and have them fix it.

If not under warranty then pop the plastic off from around the e-brake handle and check the cables. You maybe able to adjust the ebrake, but you also need to check if the rear calipers are bad otherwise you could cause more issues if you adjust them.
