Front end shake
I have an unusual problem with my Cobalt. I will be driving along - could be on the highway or a road in town - when the front end starts shaking. It starts with a mild vibration, then gets worse, until it feels like I'm running over a series of rumple strips at 70 mph. The steering wheel actually shakes in my hands and it feels like the front end is going to fall off! The slower I go, the rougher it gets. However once I stop the car, turn off the engine, and restart the car, the vibration is gone and the car drives smooth as silk for another month or so.
The dealer has done the usual - alignment, tire replacement/balance, rotor resurfacing (or whatever you call it). But it still happens. Latest is the lower control arms were replaced (at 50,000 miles - ridiculous) but the shaking continues. Does anybody have any idea of what this could be? I do not want to get rid of the car, but it feels dangerous. HELP! |
it could be a bad power steering motor, the cobalt has electric power stering so when you turn your car off it shuts power down to the steering so in a way kinda resets the motor.
