That's your outer tie rod bushing. That thing is shot.

Ok Thank you kind sir. That's what i needed to know. Gonna have to read up on how to replace it & what it will cost. I appreciate you

It's pretty simple. Borrow a pickle fork from local auto store (since your outer tie rod end is shot anyways). Remove nut. Use pickle fork to pop the stem out of the knuckle. Unscrew from inner tie rod (hold the inner with a wrench while you turn the outer). Screw on new outer. Insert into knuckle. Torque to correct value. Insert cotter pin into castle nut. Get an alignment. Profit.

If you still have noise after that, it's likely either your sway bar bushings or sway bar endlinks.

Esc flash after outer tie rod install

I replaced my outer tie rod today without any problems until i went for a drive. NoW when I'm in boost the esc flashes on the dash. Why is this happening?

Is your steering wheel off center?

DeanSsspsh 04-25-2019 07:40 AM

Yessir! Steering wheel is off center. I think when i tightened the outer tie rod end on i spun the whole tie rod to the left a lil bit. The outer the rod was not fixed to the wheel when i futzed with it causing it to rotate right when i tightened. :red:

Get it aligned and your light will go out. The crooked steering wheel is throwing off the steering wheel angle sensor for the esc "electronic stability control".
