Gap in the bolt in the steering
Alright I've been having a rediculous rattling problem for a really long time... its not struts, shocks, springs, sway bar + end links, ball joints, etc.... today I found another little thing that could be causing it but I'm not sure if it is or not... there is a bolt in the steering that has a little gap, both on each side, here is the picture.... let me know if it's right or should be tightened and could be the cause of my rattling...

Where exactly is the rattling sound located ?
Check the clearance on your down pipe from the steering rack. I had a car that the down pipe touched when coming to a stop and idling and was fine while driving. You could actually feel it in the steering wheel. |
where the heck is that, near your inner tie rods? I never looked in there I guess i gotta check tmrw

Have you had the Colomn replaced yet? Does it rattle in a straight line down the road? if you turn the steering wheel while driving down a road or around a corner does the rattle go away?
|
It rattles when I go over bumps at slow speeds, when I turn it has a little clunk sometimes... while at high speeds no rattling what so ever and everything is fine, even over bumps... only when you go over slow... if I'm driving on a rocky surface it just rattles like a mofo until I get to the flat roat.
