Gas gauge/Tank issues

It usually takes 40 to 45 dollars to fill up. It will only let me fill up to a little more that 3/4's of a tank or 30 to 35 dollars. My gas gage is also going all over the place. Anybody have this problem, fixes?

Not sure why it's not letting you fill up all the way. As far as the gauge though I know GM has some problems with that. The fuel level sender gets a weird coating from the fuel and it throws off the reading and can get wacky. You could either try some sort of cleaner or you could drop your fuel tank and clean it. I know they make cleaners to help clean the sender but I'm not sure which. If you do though be patient when you do it because its not going to fix it the first time you add the cleaner.

bad sending unit: Are you driving far enough to require 40-45 dollars to fill up? It's a 12 gallon tank, but when you fill up, unless you run your car out of gas your always going to have some left. Maybe your not getting as empty as before?

Couldve sworn it was a 13 gallon tank.

Yeah its 13 gallons. As far as the gauge being all over the place what do you mean by that? It is normal to get varying readings sometimes. But if its like really messed up then the sending unit could be bad.

Thanks homie, I'll try it out. Pics?

Honestly no pics but it all shouldnt take long just put the back on stands just you gotta use a 14 and I think 18 to unblot it and shimmey it to the passenger side while someone helps hold it (easier if tank is empty or really low) and disconnect the light by pinching the the white and green tabs in ( might be hard) and then when removing the fuel pump just put it on the corner of the tab (wrap it with a towel so no sparks) and use a hammer to just tap it till its loose
