Hood doesn't sit flush...
Has anybody had to adjust their hood to make it lay flush? I had work done after an accident and 6 months later, the side that was replaced stayed up one day when I closed it. And my dealership won't go near it saying I must have closed it on something.
Has anybody adjusted their hood to make it lay more flush? It doesnt look to be a simple fix cuz I checked it out for like an hour this weekend. If anyone could help I would appreciate... maybe Fr33k with diagrams if he is still around. Here is the issue: https://www.cobaltss.net/gallery/fil...0215081917.jpg |
I've tried for a few hours, but gave up

Have you tried adjusting the two black "spindles" under the hood down by where the grill are? Maybe those are too high? I really don't know. Maybe you could try the hyraulic (what holds the hood up).... Good luck!

might be your hydrolic hood prop...?

Never really looked at it on the 'Balt but every other car I have owned (about 15 now) there is some way to adjust the hood hinges.
Usually involves loosening the bolts that attach the hinge to the body and sliding the hinge up/down/back/forth until you get the alignment you want. Should not have to remove the bolts, just loosen so the hinge can be nudged into the correct position. Body shop may not have snugged them up enough when they fixed your car, hopefully they didn't over torque them and strip something..... |
Hood sitting high a cool look in Japan. There's no real way to adjust up and down movement. If it worked fine after the repairs, then it may be the prop rod or something else like a bolt not be tightened down enough.

This is driving me insane. For some reason, people keep pointing it out more and more lately. One guy at a shop actually said "Dude, that car is fucking hot, but that hood is killing it." Thanks.... dick. Some of you guys have to work in a shop or have some instructions.. Fr33k used to but he hasn't been online in over a month. damn. |

Look at the Balt... it's nothing like that. It looks like (and from what I have heard) you have to remove the front quarter panel. and get at it from that side.
--------8>< snip ---------- Maybe Maven can help, he seems to be the Cobalt guru.....usually hangs in the suspension section. |
bump... anyone new ideas
