to remove key lock cylinder-
1.disconnect battery.
2.remove steering column covers.
3.disconnect ignition switch connector.
4.there should be two holes on top of the cylinder, depress the detent in the first hole(cylnder will come out a little), then the detent in the second hole, followed by the detent in the first hole again.

Yup. happened to me today. Figured I'd call roadside assistance being it was a Sunday and was like uh my car is stuck on. They offered to come and tow it to the dealer. So I'm like ok. I could of killed it and drove it in the next day, but if they're offering...

Had this happen to me about a month ago. They had to replace my whole ignition cylinder or something like that. They fixed it within about 2 hours on a Saturday morning. I did call them and let them know what happened, so they had all of the parts ready.
What was funny, when I pulled it into the service area, they told me to shut off the car!!! I turned and told her, well I can't the ignition cylinder is broke and it has been for a week!!!! She then started to laugh, and said that was right and asked that I not dump the clutch.
The service manager did say that there was a bulletin out on this now.

chevy for sure has these problems. i had an s10 extreme a little while ago and the key randomly stuck in the ignition. although it wasnt running luckily. Had to tear apart the entire steering column and mess around with the ignition. On top of all the pain, it was at a buddys house 20 mins away so i had to make multiple trips back and forth just to figure it out. New ignitions are so costly so i was short on money and decided to take it apart and i unhooked the black wire connecting to the ignition and it worked. saved me money but was so clueless on what the wire was. i was thinking it might of been a stupid security system lock. but yeah man ignitions are a headache

Ok so this just happened to me, found a way for a free fix though, turns out it's not the actual tumblers that go bad, just that the cover over top of them pops up, preventing the cylinder from moving, the dealer told me 465, so I called the parts department and asked how much for them to redo the tumblers and they said 30, so I paid the 98 for an hours labor and drove it right up to the service dept, pulled out the lock cylinder and walked inside, guy asked me if that's how it came out, told him yeah, he looked in the bin for another tumbler cover and none would fit, so we decided to reuse the old one, tapped it back so it would be flat(had a little rise in it from me trying to turn off the car with it jammed, and then when we put it back over the tumblers and springs we took a punch and lightly tapped the metal of the cylinder over the cover so it would not pop again, no charge, so I walk back out to my car and grease the cylinder and slide it on in, wouldn't ya know it it worked fine after that.
