Making bad bearing noise in front end
Just wondering if anyone has had this happen to them. I have an 07 LS automatic and yesterday it started making a noise sounding like a bad wheel bearing coming from the front of the car. However it doesn't vibrate it goes down the road straight. Any ideas??? Just wondering before I take it in tomorrow to see if my powertrain warranty will cover whatever is wrong with it.

Sounds like a wheel bearing. Easy way to find out which one. As you drive down the street weave the car back and fourth (carefully) and when load gets put on the wheel the noise will get louder, just have to determine what side its on.. Or you could jack the car up, grab the wheel and check for play.

Are you ridding on winter tire's? If so sometimes when they start to wear they will produce more road noise. If it was a wheel bearing it should do away when you turn one way or the other.

loose wheel?? It might not be shaking but it will make noise when put under load. Ive experienced this first hand...dam dealership left the RF tire loose on my bosses Grand Prix. I noticed it while doing 125kmh on the highway. Got back and took every lugnut off the rf with my fingers.

Well its fixed. It was the front left bearing hub assembly. They replaced that and thought they still heard a little noise so they replaced the passenger side as well. All fixed for $0 thanks to GM's lovely powertrain warranty. LOL its only for 60,000 miles and I have 58,450 miles on the car. I got lucky!

Mine is an early 07 one of the first ones out. The original delivery date of the car was aug 16,2006 so I only have the 5 year 60,000 warranty. Also I am the second owner of the car and the warranty transfers to whoever owns the car. For you guys that have the 100,000 you're damn lucky. Oh and yes it was making a humming noise but it did kind of mix in and have the same volume as the tire noise at highway speeds. Go get it checked out maybe another recall for GM to start adding to the list.

My 2006 Cobalt seems to have all the symptoms after 10 months of every 06 Cobalt. Anyway after a flat blowout on the left front I put on the Donut Tire. After I noticed some weird noises I went to buy a replacement tire (same day - same hour) and when the guy gave me back the donut tire the rim of that thing was hot as hell.
So I started wondering is a brake caliper stuck or a bearings bad or such. I started checking the temp. After 3-4 blocks short drives the Rotor was hot as hell. Like burning your finger hot. Cooking eggs and bacon hot.
It's in the Pompano Chevy Service Dept. now. They did the Power Steering recall thing. They did the gas leaking fix thing. But they guy says nothing is wrong with the wheel hubs or brake calipers. He says they took it for a short drive and then hit it with a thermal something or other and both front hubs were the same temperature.
I haven't got the car back yet. Still waiting on the speedy courtesy van to come get me. But I somehow don't trust this? I mean for a few blocks drive the rotor where the brake pads lands shouldn't be like fire should it???? Well hot enough to give my finger a blister?
I think they might be trying to get out of this because the car has had 2 minor accidents in its history by the previous (1st) owner. And they may be trying to blame this on that. So I'll ask if they actually took it apart and inspected it?
Maybe they went once around the parking lot and came back and the temp was still a fuzzy warm temperature? And they're done at that?
