no good
no good
I just bought a 2007 cobalt ss/sc the night i brought it home the light came on so i took it back the next day and they said it was a lean fuel mixture code but could not find anything so they cleared it and said if it comes back on make another appointment to leave it for the day. It came on on my way home again so i called made an appointment and took it up there, they had it for the whole day did everything they could and still couldnt find a problem. They told me i needed to make another app. and were being dicks about it so i made an appointment at a dealer closer to me. Mean while the code comes on then goes off then back on and so on, and sometimes the computer wont even save the code in it when the light goes off. Well I took it to the new dealer and they kept it for 2 days putting 400 miles on it trying to get the code to come on. Didnt happen so it came on the next day when i got it back so i took it right back and this kept going on for about a month and the last time i took it in they kept it for a week putting about 1000 miles on it! They had a Gm specialist come in and look at it still couldnt figure it out. They said they would call me and tell me when to bring it in. Its been almost 2 months now no word. So i decided to do the lemon law but they told me Gm wont replace the car, or take it back the only option is like 2 grand in replacement for the miles they put on it. Im pretty much screwed i guess. $24,000 down the drain
I wouldn't totally freak out about that code if I were you. These cars usually run pretty rich, so even if you have a lean code, the a/f is probably still alright.
BTW, this car is brand new, right? You don't have an intake on it or anything?

If the code just flicks on and off, I know it is an annoyance, but is not hurting the car. And if they want to pay you for the miles and time that isn't bad. Most dealers wouldn't even give you that.
dude thats bull ****. the cars brand new and gm wont replace it wtf? did they ever change anything? reflash it, find a leak . thats crazy man, thats just shitty.....if they have record that the light of the code then they should take every step they can to find a leak. sounds like bad dealers. there is no way the should have put that many miles on your car twice and told you that there is nothing wrong lemon law that ****.
it is completly stock and i have everything recorded dates, what they did, how many miles they put on it. total they have put about 3500 miles on it and i just bought it in late may it has 7400 miles on it. sucks!
i also just ordered a megan racing catback exhuast, I want to get stg2 here soon if i have that on when i go to get it done will they take note of that and cancel my warr. or do they only care if im getting warr. work done?
They said it would be up to a year if we took them to court before a court date would even be scheduled. I would still have to make payments so im losing more money. I want the car but it just sucks they wont replace the car and use my car as a demo to figure out what is wrong.
Could the maf or one of the o2 sensors be the problem?? try cleaning the maf, and see if that fixes it, and also disconnect the battery for a while, you never know. I know the dealer said they did everything, but its the dealership lol

Don't ever EVER EVER do that on a car that's still under warranty. That's one of, if not THE most delicate pieces of equipment on the whole car. If it needs cleaned, the dealership should clean it.
It sounds like they are trying to scare you away from pursuing a lemon law case against them . If they put 3500 miles on it trying to find a solution to the problem and can't , i be pissed . My car did the same thing until i had the stage kit reflash done , 10,000 miles later and it hasn't come back. GL

Cdub, have you asked them to make sure that your car is flashed with the most recent tune? Being an 07, I don't THINK there are any more updates, but you never know. It's an option worth exploring.
I think there used to be a site you could input your VIN and then it would tell you whether your software was up to date or not.
The only other thing I can think of would be to check all of the tubing to the airbox. Make sure everything is tight, check the filter and make sure it's on good and secure, make sure the MAF is fastened nice and tight.
Here is the website to check your calibration

If the dealer didn't already do all the updates available then this could be another route to look at . If they had it for that long and didn't do the updates , i wouldn't go back to them cause that should be one of the first things they should have looked at .

You know, this made me think of something...and maybe someone else can help out with some info...
