P0335 Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction

Hey guys on the way home from work tonight I noticed a brief power loss just for a split second on the freeway then I stopped at the gas station pumped gas & when I went to start my car it wouldn't turn over, I tried again this time giving it some gas & it started & idled fine however my CEL was on. I turned it off & tried to restart again to see if the issue was gone however again it wouldn't crank over even with giving it gas this time.

Keep in mind I have a fairly new starter battery alternator & fuel filter.

I used my scan gauge & the only trouble code that it's pulling is P0335 Crankshaft Position Sensor A Circuit Malfunction

I don't believe that I've ever replaced my crankshaft position sensor before.

What are your guys thoughts ?

Of course I have my car towed to the shop & it starts right up ! They can see the trouble code in the history but it's gone now,

He's started it over 30 times without issue

Would u guys still recommend that I replace the crankshaft position sensor ?

Sounds like it may be a wiring issue.
Check the wiring, this sensor is located on the front of the engine above the starter. There's a short (~6
inch) pig tail that plug into the sensor on one end and into the engine harness on the other. That would be easy to inspect and replace.

Picture of the location - dead center (with radiator removed):

Strange. Usually when the crank sensor is bad, the car will endlessly turn over, but never fire.

Check all your grounds and battery connections before you replace the crankshaft position sensor.

Mine would randomly not start when the sensor started to go. I could go almost a week without issue and then it wouldn't turn over and would set a code. Had it replaced and now issue since.

They do fail, I had mine go bad on my first LSJ. Cheap enough and easy to replace, just put a new one in.

It's not unusual that the car started after a tow, the sensors usually crap out when hot, so once the car cools down they will often re-start and work for some time.
