Please Help!!! Non supercharged motor in a supercharged car??

Just bought a 2006 SS/SC 2.0 and it has a rod hanging out of the block. That being said can I get a motor from a non supercharged car and just bolt the SC up To it and run it? Or do I need to find another supercharged motor to use??

Does bolt up, but the crank sensor setup is different so you can't use the 2.2 block in an LSJ without some custom work.

Better off finding another supercharged engine block.

best to find the supercharged engine (cobalt or ion redline) but if you cant find one you could use a 2003+ saab 9-3 2.0l turbo engine. its got a few differences but its a proven swap.

Go in do some research. If you're seriously considering the swap at least take the time to look for info.

No you cannot just use a different engine.

You can but there are a few differences to account for.

Oh my god. Maybe we should hold your hand and wipe your ass too.

Anyone with the knowledge to do a swap would try and at least look for information. Sounds like it's beyond your capabilities.

I'm not exactly sure. You can start by looking at zzp's website and see if they list some things on their gen 3 block page. Also just search for the swap here, I think it's been explained.

one of the things that used to be great about this forum is the first answer wasnt "do a search".

the 2.0l turbo does have some differences, however some people have swapped the gen 3 short block into an lsj car, the biggest thing being the pistons are designed for direct injection, and the compression is lower. you can run it, but its not a very efficient setup. now you wouldnt want to swap in an lfn 2.0l turbo (found in the cobalt ss/tc, hhr ss or solstice/sky) as the blocks are known for being porous and over time can start leaking coolant into the oil. these are known as a gen 2 block. of coarse no matter what you do here you have to swap the lsj head onto it, the 2.0l turbo engines are vvt and direct injection, so they wont work.

your best bet is still to find a 2.0l lsj supercharged or the saab 9-3 turbo 2.0l, known as a b207

It aggravates me too when everyone says to just do a search. Theses cars have been out for 10+ years so you could say that every issue has been talked about. If that's the case then the forum should only have a for sale section, picture threads, off topic and some racing stories. If you don't want to help the guy then don't answer.

People don't get tired of questions, they get tired of answering questions that have already been answered ad nauseum. No different than elementary school teachers do. If you're going to ask a question, at least make an effort to search before hand, so you have a basic understanding of what you're asking. If you do a search and still aren't clear, then by all means ask.
