rear brakes lnf: what if we ditched the spring?
just a thought but what if we ditched the spring that is attached to the outside of the caliper? is that not letting the pins slide? anyone try not putting it back in? i service my brakes every fall and spring and its disgusting how quick that inside pad wears. driving in wet weather is scary as hell and im on hawks all corners. the hawks are wearing slower than stock but still same problem eventually.. at 80,000kms and going to buy my second set of pads soon. i know this is the billionth post of this but never seen anyone suggest losing the spring.. thoughts?

Spring helps even out the pressure of the two sides of the caliper. When I bought my car one of the caliper springs was missing. The result was that the rotor was worn only towards the outer edge and not the center. When I just regressed my rear calipers I made sure to grease the slots the pads ride in (the most important aspect) as well as the areas the springs contact. No problem now since.
