Hello;

I did a couple searches to no avail.
I am wondering if my headlight switch has ceased to fully function.

I normally start my car in the morning to let it warm up before driving to work;
This morning I did my usual routine, but I couldn't disable the running lights.

My understanding is that Canadian and USA cars both work the same when parked with the ebrake up - you flick the headlight switch backwards, and the DIC displays something like "autolights off".

This morning, nothing.

I would earnestly appreciate any help or pointers.

By running lights do you mean the DLRs?

On our 06, if the hand brake is up, the DRLs are off already. They only turn on when you release the hand brake.

In my car I can disable them at anytime using the switch. If you do it constantly, you can just remove the fuse to disable it permanently.

I think I found the culprit;
The switch at the park brake.
I cleaned the contact, and it seems to be working again... hopefully this does it.
I am starting now to see the car show it's age.
the outside air door recently also started doing that annoying clicking...
I am the original owner, and I am north of 170k miles.
