Agreed. Removing the intake manifold and replacing the laminova O-rings is really only a 2 hour job and there are some good How-To on this site that tell you exactly how to do it. $1200 is WAY too much for a simple fix. O-Rings + new intake manifold is going to be less than $100. I find it hard to believe that the intake itself is actually damaged and the only way to know fi the intake is actually cracked around the intercooler assembly would be to take the intake apart and inspect it.

These cars have a lot of intricacies that mechanics who know nothing about the cars know nothing about. I would not personally let any mechanic work on a SS/SC or SS/TC unless they had knowledge or experience working with them previously.

Question man, I'm going to attempt to tackle changing the gaskets in my laminova cores today, and the article you gave me to show me how to do it was how to install the dual pass endplate, now if I'm just changing the gaskets on the laminova cores do I get to just that step and stop there? or is there another article that you have I need to look at?

That how to will be helpful for everything from removing the intake manifold, endplate, and laminovas, and reinstalling everything.

I only titled it dual pass install for the people who need the layout of the lines for a dual pass endplate and such.

So my intake manifold gasket is bad, there was a bunch of burnt coolant on it, I wiped it down and put it back in now my coolant isn't leaking BUT my dip stick keeps popping out now, so im pretty sure I have to replace that gasket but I can't find the intake manifold gasket anywhere so im pretty sure I have to purchase a whole new intake manifold for my car don't I? and are there any out there that are cheaper than the zzp one but still with good quality?

Crate engine depot sells them.

Should have purchased a new gasket from the start. Would have saved you time. I always replace the gasket if its old.

ZZP sells laminova gaskets... I thought we went through all of this??

The intake manifold gasket.... the gasket that seals the intake manifold to the head can be purchased at crate engine depot.

Yes sir, we did go through all that. I bought and put on al the laminova core gaskets, those are good but my intake manifold gasket is bad and I went to crate engine depot and the only gasket I could find for the intake manifold said lamnova core gasket and I was just asking you if that was the intake manifold gasket or the laminova core gaskets. Because the "laminova core gasket" they are advertising on crate engine depot make it seem like its only one gasket, so I was asking you if that was the manifold gasket or the laminova core ring gaskets (theres no pictures of the gaskets on crate engine depot so I was just seeing I you knew). Not trying to be a pain man, I can just tell you know your stuff and seeing if you could save me from a wrong purchase! haha

No, what I am talking about is when you take the side of the intake manifold off to get to the laminova cores, the green gasket that goes around all of the laminova cores was bad, is there anywhere I can purchase that? the gasket you just posted looked like it was good when I took it apart, providing my situation would you think it would be that gasket?

That used to be the solution for popped dipsticks....

How old is the existing intake mani gasket on your car?

The gasket for the endplate is this one:

Intercooler End Plate Seal 12584355

Man...Well should I just go ahead and replace both parts then just to be safe? I'm pretty sure it has never been changed, ive only had the car for a year, so I'm not sure if it has ever been replaced.

Yeah, just go ahead an replace them both, especially if you are having issues with the dip stick popping out. The endplate gasket will fix the leaking and the new intake manifold gasket should fix the dipstick popping out issue.

I would def change both. I always add new gaskets when I remove/reinstall something.
