Suspension Issue?

I have a 2006 SS. About a week or so ago I got around to installing Powell v5's with Koni yellows in the front(adjusted half way inbetween hard and soft, always tried 1/3 from full soft as recommended). Had the car aligned the next day and have been enjoying it pretty much since then. The other day I hit a pot hole I guess you could call it...I live in Connecticut and there are plenty of manholes and what not that aren't exactly avoidable. Anyways, so I drove into one of these and the front end made a HUGE bang. I never had this issue with the old suspension even though the struts were leaking a little bit. The only thing I could think of is maybe its the lack of bump stops? When I put everything back together I noticed that my car never had them to begin with, but it never made a huge bang when I hit a bump in the road either. Its fine over small bumps and things of that nature but when the suspension has to travel a lot it makes a huge bang like I said. Any ideas?

the bump stops are in there for a reason. There guna crash hard if you collapse it all the way and there is no cushion.

Reinstall bump stops... it will help to prevent the suspension travel from bottoming out.

Do I need to take it all apart again? And if I do will I need a realignment? I got it aligned afterwards like I said so...

Jack the entire back end off the ground, remove the wheels, unbolt the top shock bolt from each side to completely droop out the suspension and install the stops. Should take 30 minutes.

For the fronts, you will need to remove the strut assembly to get the bump stops in. The rears you just jack up the car like mentioned in the post above.

no alignment is needed if all your doing is putting the bump stops in.
