+1 although I dont remember what size exactly we used, it was a tight ass fit, we pounded the wrench on and pushed down/back. and had to pound it off with a hammer to get it to come off, it ruined the wrench but it was cheaper than buying the pully boys tool.

That little piece of crap tensioner! The metal nub can wear out easily and the wrench will slip off. Vice Grips work well. Remember to push down more than placing tortion (sp?) on it or the wrench could slide off more easily.

I bought a little 8 inch prybar that I used. Vice grips will work, but can be a pain to manuver. I don't suggest trying to use a wrench as it will slip off and you will bust your fingers and/or hand and cause you to take a trip to the ER.

I used to swap my stage 2 and 3 pulley back and forth for testing and I got to where i had to wear mechanics glove so the fricking wrench wouldn't dig into my hand so bad ........Pry bar FTW

Yeah after so many times the tensioner seems to get harder and harder to depress by hand. In my case, it got to the point where even my former nascar tech neighbor couldnt do it without some very imaginative trickery (rope was involved, and it took three people. A&M style.) lol

I eventually got the pulleyboys tool and took a chunk out of my alternator bracket by tightening it too far down:

The damage is purely cosmetic because that piece is bolted elsewhere as well, but it sure hurts to look at it.

Talking

That's why last year when I did mine, I got the engine lift bracket and installed it on the alternator bracket. It is well worth it and I had to modify the lift bracket to fit. But now... I get out my pulley boys tool to swap pullies and install it and remove and install the belt. No problems.
