Traction Control Light / shifting issues
I have an 06 Cobalt SS 2.4 Auto my check engine light has been coming off and on for last couple months but doesn’t run any different when light is on however when the traction control light comes on, the car doesn’t shift right when going into 1st and 2nd gears , after 2nd it seems fine any ideas ? |
My friend, I've been battling this very thing for quite sometime with my 06 2.4 auto. Specifically, I have a "rich" code (p0172 - after changing out my fuel injectors) that's throwing that cursed t/c light. Trying now to figure out why the hell my longtm fuel trims are at -20% which is obviously causing the code...… incredibly frustrating.
When the traction control is turned off (t/c light on) the transmission goes into a sort of 'protect' mode which causes harsh/jerky automatic shifting....really noticeable a lower speeds. It sucks, I know. The problem is that there are way too many things that can cause that damn t/c light. And it doesn't have its own trouble code. Why Chevy did this? The hell knows...but its horrible. Car needs to be in damn near perfect running condition for that t/c light to stay off...it seems My advice is to identify why your check engine light is on first. Code reader, local auto parts store, friend with scanner etc …. can accomplish this. |
