transmission/clutch issue?

I have an 09 ss/tc afaik stock clutch, 73k miles.

I'm having an issue that only happens occasionally starting out in first gear, it is almost as if the clutch just isn't engaging first normally so when I try to take off it stalls the car. This is my first manual but I've been driving it for about 2 months now and this has just now started to occur.. I'm just wondering if anyone has had a similar issue and if this is a clutch problem or more likely a transmission problem?

are u serious or a troll? how about u try giving it more gas as u let go of the clutch.

TylerJY 06-29-2014 01:47 AM

Im serious.. and I do give it plenty of gas. The clutch pedal just keeps coming out and the car stalls. Never actually moves. 9 times out of 10 I take off just fine even on hills, but sometimes this happens and I cant help but kill it on flat ground even. I almost think if my transmission is even grabbing first cause I neutral coast to stops.

3rd gear take off? It happens to the best of us every now and then.

TylerJY 06-29-2014 02:16 AM

I suppose I could be accidentally doing that. Didn't even think about it honestly.. would rather have it be that and me feeling stupid then something actually wrong lol

You will get better at it

Hahaha i hope it is just me being a moron and trying to take off in 3rd.

ya could be 3rd gear take off lol iv done it but I notice before I let go of the clutch cause car starts bogging. make sure ur shifter is as far left as it can go before u go up into first, cause if ur just putting it straight up from its home position, ur in 3rd

Yeah it happens to the best of us sometimes. Mind slip.

Sure your e-brake isn't sticking? Damp weather can cause the rotors/pads to rust and stick briefly.
