Turn signal load resistors
 

Daughter will have her license soon and I have the 06 LS sedan about ready for her. In the past year we have only put about 3K on it with the learning to drive. Taking it up to a whipping 53K on the clock....lol

We have made some additions as well. New stereo and speakers (those 6x9's were a pita to replace..lol). Power locks, tint, some new (used) wheels. Headlights were pretty cloudy, cleaned them a couple of time over the past year. Found out replacements were cheap and ordered new ones. I also installed some 9007 LED's and wanted to install some switchbacks. But I got the dreaded hyperflash. Seller sent me the resistors, but unsure how these are installed. Was hoping it would be the same as the 06 HHR I had and no resistors needed, no such luck. If anyone can share what wires these go to, I'd appreciate it. Otherwise I'll get the voltmeter out this weekend for some testing.

And if curious, we this was my mom's car purchased used in 07 with 11k. She gifted it to my daughter since she can't drive anymore. Totally stock at the time with the exception of adding cruise back in 07. Daughter will be getting her licence very soon and just trying to make a decent first car for her.

the resistor jest needs to be wired in parallel with the turn signal wires.

So just the signal wires? I found a diagram and it looked like it went between 2 wires, including ground. Which looked weird.....lol

Do you have a picture of the resistors, ill post a diagram and draw in where they need to be wired in.

Appreciate the help. I'm guess it's the blue wire, but just trying to confirm. Here is the resistor.

So with that resistor one wire is going to go to the power side of the turn signal and the other wire is going to go to the ground. So for the front that will be one wire spliced into the light blue wire, and the other on the black wire. On the rear it will be on wire on the yellow and the other on the black.

Perfect thank you. These are the fronts since they are switchbacks. Still working on a leak in one taillight before I do more there.

One thing I learned on this car over the past year. On the first reseal of the tail light I discovered there is a marker light, both sides were burned out. When swapping the headlights, i discovered what I though was a reflector, was actual a light as well. Both side burned out as well. Mom only cared it it drove....lol But in 13 years, only one brake light was ever replaced. All the rest are still factory, or were until recently.

No problem man, the lights in my ss are all original but the ls I have ive lost count on how many bulbs ive put in that thing over the years:lol:. Ive had multiple designs of leds, hids, and regular bulbs in that thing. Never could make up my mind as I was growing up.

I'm just hope this kid is going to take care of it. Should last her many years.

Should last pretty good, as a tech some advice I would give is keep up the maintenance. It is due a coolant change, brake flush, and trans flush by now if none of those have been done. Keep the oil changes between 3-4k and you shouldn't need chains till around 120 to 150k miles.

Coolant flush has already been done. Found that receipt. I can tell the drive belt has been changed, got a Dayco on it. Ran a spreadsheet on all the oil changes to see when they were done and already done a full syn change myself along with a cabin filter (2 old ones were crammed in there) and air filter. Have the updated chain tensioner, just need to get it installed. Lucky I kept my 32mm socket from my HHR. Almost gave it to my nephew. She was a upsell victim queen being an elderly woman.

Sounds like your pretty set minus the trans and brake fluid. The updated tensioner will be a help but still be prepared for chains. Unfortunately ours are prone to stretching.
