Exclamation VIDEOs for "Dreaded Supercharger Noise"

Supercharger noise on my 2006
Built Date: Feb 2006
Miles: 2,600

If the video cuts in and out, your internet sucks! Right click on the link and "Save As" to your comp. When it’s downloaded on your computer, play the file. The interruptions should be gone.

If you have a video of the noise put it in this thread.

This is in response to this thread:
Dreaded Supercharger Noise
Let’s try to figure out if all these superchargers make the noise

mine sounds the same with 600 miles on the car, so i'm sure we're okay...roots style must just be noisy.

Mine makes the same noise, I was freaked out too untill I heard a Jackson Racing Roots blower on my friends Civic and made the same noice, just the rotors inside I guess! I've only got 1400 miles!

My S/C sounds like that as well, but mine isn't quite as loud. I'm sure it is just the noisy ass roots blower. The more miles you get on the car the louder it will probably get.

That is the same sound mine is making, and the brand new one on the dealership that I went to listen to was making the same exact noise. I think that we can chalk it up to being normal. Mine does get more noticable the closer that I get to the charger.

Seems a little loud, but camera mics typically are more sensative than our ears. The sound is not abnormal so no worries.

Now if I can just record the sound mine makes. It intermittenly sounds like a deisel "clacking". Of course it never does it when I'm somewhere where I could stop and record it. Hopefully it will happen when I either go to the dealer or becomes more regular so I can get something done about it. It's just too random right now.

I guess I better listen to mine closer sometime..
but I can't say that I have heard the sound that I could hear in that video ....
in that video to me it almost sounds like something internal is looser than it should be...
I guess I better just listen to mine for a comparison

mine's not quite that loud.... but I think a lot of that could be contributed to the camera mic.

I think we're all okay here.

The clacking could be normal play in the rotors when cold, but it should mostly be gone when the car is at normal temps. Check for it when first starting the car, then check again after driving for 15-20 minutes. If its gone or much quieter, its normal. If not, take it in to have it checked out. Maybe some have more clack to them than others, but it should be reasonably quiet.
