did you check for leaks?

blacksssc05 09-22-2008 05:11 PM

yea but none that we could find

i think it may be the cat or flex pipe

umrdyldo 09-22-2008 05:13 PM

my cat sounded like that during break in

blacksssc05 09-22-2008 05:17 PM

my car is way past break in lol...maybe its a bad cat

anyone?

start teh car, and hold something over the tailpipe. a towel or something similar will work well, bunch it up and stick it in the pipe and hold it. you should feel pressure building up, and if you let go it should spit out the pipe. so hold the towel back over the exhaust, then have someone get under the car and listen/feel for leaks. obviously you want to do this with the car cool so yo udon't burn yourself.

i already gave you the answer based on the info you provided. not sure what else you're looking for. if there's no leaks after you do the test i told you about, take off the downpipe and look at the cat to make the insides are still there and in good shape.

it works well because if there's a leak, covering the tailpipe will force more air through the leak making it easy to find.

Sea foam it. You can see leak's easier.
