what the hell is this horrible noise?
 

noticed the car has made this bone chilling screeching noise since I bought it, only happens when first turning the key over into acc mode before even starting the engine, sounds like some sort of electric motor going bad but im happy to replace it as soon as possible

you need to have someone else cycle the key while you're looking and listening.

did you ever find out what it was? Mines making this now just not as loud

Recirculation door actuator motor
 

This clicking noise is an actuator motor for a blend door on the HVAC system. If it is in the upper passenger side of the dash it is the recirculation door if it is down in the middle of the dash by the throttle pedal then it is either the blend door (temperature) or the Mode door. There are three actuators, blend, mode, and recirculation. The clicking is the gears trying to open the door and slipping.. this is obvious bevause it happens when you turn the key to the on position and it tries to reset.
