Exclamation Whats this plug???

I wasn't sure how to search for this so that's why im here posting.

when i found this just like so, I plugged it in and it ran like complete crap and went into Reduce Engine Power. So i unplugged it and cleared the code and now the car is running fine again.. It just bugs me that its not plugged in/or what else needs to be fixed.

Thanks for any help. I'll be be back later tonight to check

Its the boost control solenoid. The hose on the bottom of the front two hoses, shouldn't be there.

No, but the rear hose goes to the intake manifold, right above the blower in the middle. The front upper port is connected to the bypass actuator on the supercharger. The bottom port is left open.

What is the hose on the bottom port connected to on your car?

It was connected to the one MAP sensor i believe its called behind the supercharger. It has a nipple on the bottom part of it. I removed it though.

Pretty sure i have the lines correct now, But i dont understand why when i plugged the connector into the solenoid it made my car go into Engine Power Reduce Mode right away and wouldn't run. The car ran better without it plugged in and the last mechanic left it like that which is messed up. He avoided a problem.

That solenoid may be failed. It only opens the boost bypass valve when the PCM is trying to limit boost, most of the time it isn't doing anything.

That extra sensor there below the fuel rail is a barometric pressure sensor, it measures outside air density, it doesn't go to anything.

What codes does it set if you plug the sensor in?

Well i finally was able to change the Crank sensor today without having to get it relearned.

The car didn't want to boost without the solenoid plug in, When it was in it only went to 5psi. So im not sure where im loosing another 5psi at... So that is what im trying to figure out right now.

The only code i have is a P0171 which im to believe its a o2 sensor. i'll re-scan tomorrow and check everything over..

p0171 is a maf lean code, usually an air leak. Check for any issues around the manifold, it could explain your low boost also.

You can plug the solenoid in and disconnect the hoses from the actuator, that way it can't reduce boost. If you get full boost that way, there's something in the PCM that's trying to lower boost. Needs proper diag at this point to avoid throwing money at it without fixing anything.

I'll use the soapy water trick and check.
