Warranty, Recall Question

So my car has been smelling like gas for the last week. Going to the dealer ship tomorow so they can do the recall work for the fuel pump and power steering. My question is if the smell is cause the fuel pump it will be fix but if its not say if its the fuel line will they fix it for free or charge me. Also my warranty expired like 13k miles ago or on 4\4\11 will they check my car for anything else i should know about? I also want to know if I'm gonna get a refund for never using my warranty cause i know the last cobalt when i traded it for this cobalt ss i got a refund for never using my warranty? Any help will be appreciated:cssNET:

If the cause of the smell is not what's covered by the recall, it won't be free, they'll call you and make sure you approve of getting the work done and are willing to pay for it.

DiabeticKripple 08-06-2011 12:24 AM

ya they cant do any work without asking first. if they do, legally its free

What if its cause because of the fuel pump for some reason?

DiabeticKripple 08-06-2011 12:27 AM

i could see them fixing whatever is causing the smell, if it relates to the fuel pump. but if you knicked a line, then your gonna have to pay

I dont think its a line cause i dont see any leak. I checked underneath but couldnt find anything but i can smell it and its getting worst.

The problem your having is the problem that I just fixed. There is feed and a return hose on to of the tank. I smelt gas for awhile and would loose pressure and the car would crank till pressure back up. I never had a leak that I could see. After dropping the fuel tank the whole top of the tank was covered in gas and waas dripping down onto my exaust and burning off before it hit the ground. After buying a new pump for $255. I asked about a recall and there wasn't one but it has been happening to slot of cobalts. Hope this helps...

ok Dealership fixed fuel pump and power steering motor. No more fuel smell either it was the fuel pump causing the smell.

bbowman2002 08-09-2011 11:59 PM

How do I go about getting a reimbursement then???

DiabeticKripple 08-10-2011 12:02 AM

go to your dealer and talk to them

bbowman2002 08-10-2011 12:04 AM

Man I'm probably going to have to hold them down and tickle the shit out of them till I get my way!!! Lol

DiabeticKripple 08-10-2011 12:06 AM

as long as you have the service record and receipt you should be good

bbowman2002 08-10-2011 12:07 AM

I bought it myself and did the work myself. That change anything?

DiabeticKripple 08-10-2011 12:08 AM
