I already started a thread on a detailing site that I am on so I will just copy and paste from there so I wont have to re write it all over again

Well After three years of fighting and arguing, I finally was able to get my 06 Cobalt SS back. To sum it up, dont co sign on anything even with a fiance. Well I got it back yesterday and I must say.. ummm.. How someone lets a vehicle get this bad its beyond me. This will be my first real test to clean a vehicle because my "customers" and myself never let a vehicle get this dirty. I am going to go through the whole detail process and try to give a good write or walkthrough on what I did, before and after pics, what I used and hopefully get some insight and tips on how I am doing. This is the first "build" thread that I have done in a LONG time so bare with me. Well on to pics which are just the interior cuz I didnt have enough time to get some exterior yet.

2006 Cobalt SS NA. 69K miles.

Here are the interior pics

It's not a 95 civic, people need to learn to take better care of cars

LS6Rally 01-03-2013 04:06 PM

you'll get there man! saw your other thread, glad you got it back.

the seats are easy to remove, fronts have two 12MM bolts holding them down at the rear of the seats, then you tip them towards the dash amd pull them out of the mounting slots in the floor, rear seat the bottom is just clipped in. stand in the rear seat footwell area, and push in on the seat( towards the rear of the car) and then lift up. the backs of the rear seat have clips where they pivot on the outside, you will need a small screw driver to get them out. there should be a how to somewhere.

i pull my fronts out every spring and clean the entire carpet and all of teh seats. you should be able to leave the rears in.

Well I got the engine Cleaned so far.

What I used:
Adams All Purpose Cleaner
Adams Fender brush
Adams Car Shampoo

What I did. With the engine nice and cool, I spray the engine down and knocked off all the big heavy dirt and grime. Next sprayed all plastics and metal with APC and proceeded to use the Fender brush that was soaking in a shampoo bucket and scrub all the metal and plastics under the hood. Then rinsed off with a light "unmbrella" spray. Started the car and then used a blower and got all the big pools of water out and then shut the hood and left car running as the heat will drive everything else up.
Note. None of the plastics have any type of sealant or shine products added to it yet cuz it was 20 degrees out and I was already cold from cleaning the engine.

When I first got this car for her ( my ex fiance ) it was mint with 18k on the clock. When I first seen it driving down the road and did a quick walk around I thought well it is winter it will be dirty, then i open up the door and was thinking HOLY CRAP! look at my dad who went with me to help drive my other car home and asked him if he wanted to drive it. I never seen him roll up a window so fast and act like he couldnt hear me haha

Another funny part is when I asked her the condition of the car before I drove to get it, she said well it just alil dirty but nothing bad.. NOTHING BAD!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!

EMAC X 61 01-03-2013 04:14 PM

looks like every repossessed car that i see !!! its gross to think people drive their cars like that !!!

Thanks, Last night when I was messing around with it, I started to look but I was too cold and tired to think straight, and just found the bolts and such.

As far as carpet goes. I am going to try my best and maybe rent a steamer and see what I can do. Worst case scenerio I buy a new carpet, but I figures I would put Adams carpet cleaner to the test first .. Going to wash it and get it dried then gut the seats out and really go at the interior. Wheels need repainted, so while they are off I will be able to get in the wheel wells really well.

Hope u don't find roaches.

I left work alil early today to get started on this and to run to napa cuz if she took this bad of care of it visually I dont wanna to take the chance mechanically. So before I went to napa I decided to clean up the plastics and vaccuum it. What I used

Adams Leather and Interior Cleaner
Adams Edgeless utility towel
Adams wash mit
Adams Car shampoo

I used the Adams Leather and interior cleaner with a edgeless utility towel and wiped down all the plastics. For the door jams since I have not yet washed the exterior (12 degrees out) I sprayed the door jams on very low low water just to knock off the big stuff and then used a wash mit (one I use on lower parts of vehicles) and washed the door jams.

Now some after pics

I was walking around the car more today and started really looking at the hood and I must say I am going to be seriously put to the test on it. Its not even cleaned yet but I can barely find a spot that does not have serious scratches on it. I even can definely see a boot print on it! WTH! I just got a new PC for christmas with all new pads and compounds that I already used on my suby which was pretty bad and it looks BRAND NEW. Hoping to have same results on this.

She wasnt like that when we were together. Like I said the car was pristine. We bought it the same day that I bought my TBSS. They gave us a deal since I was buying both of them. It was NEVER dirty then, but ALOT changed when she left.
