Clear Coat Starting to peel on Roof!?! Any way to repair it without respray?
Hey guys,
Last night I noticed a couple small spots on my roof that are starting to flake off clear coat off. Which sucks because I take great care of my paint....and its waxed AT LEAST once a year and washed very frequently. Ive seen a few sketchy ways of DIY repairing these spots and re-clearing it yourself... have any of you guys had any experience with this? The spots are only about a quarter size or less... so its just starting.... but I want to fix it before it gets worse. Unfortunately I don't have the extra money to have the entire roof re-sprayed. Thanks guys for any help or advise you could give! -Corey |

I would recommend you start saving to have it re-sprayed any diy fix is going to be temporary at best.
Also wax your car more than once a year |

Also wax your car more than once a year 3 kids... 2 dogs.... 50hr/week job.... children extra curricular activities... wedding planning.... the list goes on and on LOL. But yes... I do need to make a conscious effort to wax it more. I agree. Since I work at the Chevrolet dealer... maybe one of the body shops we sublet body work to will give me a SMOKIN deal. :) |
Get a spray sealant, they last longer and are easy to apply. The one I use takes about 35mins including cure time for the entire car. (Adam's Quick Sealant with an applicator)

Funny, I wax mine about twice a month, and probably drive it a total of 6-7 times between the 2 weeks.

But, I drive mine 7 days a week.... and put probably 15-20k miles on a year... so it doesn't do much sitting. I garage it every night.... but its parked in the sun all day while im at work. |
I understand the busy with life thing. I'm just stupid about protecting the paint and keeping it clean so I don't drive it on rainy days or in the winter. Just a big difference from me to you. Good luck on the paint I've had that before on prior vehicles and it's a pain.
Tried re clearing it on a subdirectories and it lasted not quite a year |
