Deep scratches...respray or touch-up?

Someone graciously left me with scratches all down my passenger door and a nice deep gash on the wheel well. How should I get this fixed? Also any idea on the cost? I have the red tricoat paint, if that helps any when estimating the price. Thanks!

Fingernail deep scratches suck. How old is you car? Fading from the sun can make the new touch up paint stand out a lot and make it look tacky.

It's a 2009 model year. The paint is in excellent condition besides for these scratches.

Touch up paint could work but it would never be the same as being sprayed. Your lucky it's not a metallic and could probably get away with it depending how anal you are.

You could alway do touch up paint. Wet sand the area with 2000 grit and then a 3m compound. But that's only if you have a buffer really. That would kinda blend it in.

How much would touch up paint cost? With my special paint color do you know where I could get it from? Thanks for the help!

Maybe like 10 or 15 from a car quest for the bottle with brush and pen tip thing.

Will I need anything special to match that paint? Also will I need to seal it with a clear coat?

Check your door for the paint code. I hVe seen people take a clear nail polish over it but I don't think it's necessary.

There are paint shops that can match the factory paint. You can also use a toothpick to apply the paint.
