My E-brake stays locked after release
1 Attachment(s)
I have a 2009 Cobalt SS. For some reason, when I pull the E Brake it locks the wheel on the driver side rear of the car after I release the brake lever. I took off the interior panels to have a look and I noticed the cable isn't going back all the way after I release the e brake handle. The picture shows the cables after I pull and release the handbrake. The bottom cable in the picture is the driver side rear. Does anyone know how to fix this or know what its doing? I don't want to replace the cable itself because although the cable is only 18$, mechanics around me want $300+ to do the job.

I know this is three years old, so my experience now won't help you, bucky_BMX, but my '07 SS Supercharged had the same issue.
Maybe this will help someone in the future, but the issue for me was the rear calipers — I've had to have mine replaced twice, so far. They get rusted and then the parking brake won't release. It's happened every couple of years or so. |
