scratched up rims
Okay so heres the deal went to get new tires put on the balt today and when I got them back I took a look at them and two ofthem have fine scratches on them which really pisses me off because the service sucked ***** and now my cars ridin funny (long story please don't ask). So my question is whats good for taking scratches out of painted rims. As far as I can remember theyre aluminum rims w polished lips and the face of the rimis painted hypersilver and its scratched on the painted part so would a typical rubbing compound work or is there something special that works wonders that I should know about? Please let me know of anything good that will make these look brand new again. Thanks
edit: rims are Kazera KZ-A Dual PCD (Hypersilver) since I cant host pics

IF U DO HAVE A BUFFER OR POLISHER U CAN CUT THE PAINT A LIL AND MAKE SOME FINE SCRATCHES DISSAPEAR USE A LIGHT CUT COMPOUND, THEN A FINISHING WAX WITH A FINISHING BUFFING PAD AS WELL, "OR" just go to the autoparts like autozone and get the mothers ball with a scratch remover from there, polish or buff the scratches and get a spray wax from mothers or eagle1 and spray/wipe u will c the diference.... deep scratch wont be off all the way but it will look a lot better...

take a close look use a magnifying glass if you have to , then wet sand and polish,
otherwise it's f@#ked.
If your car is riding fun have the balance checked and make sure your lug nuts are torqued to spec.

You ask above about wet sanding. Start with 1000 keep it very wet with water.
step up to 1500 keep it wet! go to 2000. Work it untill it appears level . A very
common defect of painting is Orange Peel. Look at an orange you'll know what I mean.
You need to make that dissapear along with the scratch. If it does not and the texture has changed your screwed becauuse you went into the color. Perform you work in steps, always checking how much surface you are cutting off, because that's what sandpaper does it cuts. Next rubbing compound by hand or machine, then polishing compound.
If you still have enough in you the I recomend glazing compound.
Wet sanding is a kind of an art I do it but am no artist.
Good luck I've FU'ed plenty.

the last time i had tires put on my car, i made the mistake of going to a dealership filled with moron tech's. when i looked at my rims, i had a ring of scratches around my lug nuts on each wheel. we faught with them for over a month trying to get my wheels fixed or replaced, but they kept saying the marks were normal wear and tear. i almost knocked the manager out when he said that since my car was only 1 year old, and is never driven in the winter. thankfully i have the polished wheels and i was able to buff the marks out. if they were the gunmetal rims they would have been ruined for sure.
i have since learned from my mistake, and now go to jackwilliams tire, and they did a fantastic job mounting my new goodyear eagle gt's.
on a real good note, that dealership that almost runined my rims closed do to poor customer service and complaints about damaged parts on cars.
