Wheel Cleaning?

What is the best way to protect alloy wheels with machined lips and centers? I was thinking about waxing the non-machined part. What works best for the machined parts on wheels?

WHen you say protect.... are you talking about keeping them clean fgrom brake dust after youve cleaned them? If that is what you are looking for ... im interested as well.... my wheels are constantly needing to be wiped down due to the suckass brake dust that collects on them after a few days of driving...

Armor all wheel protectant works pretty good, but it just clean my wheels when they need to be cleaned haha

Any wheel wax or sealant will work. I use Optimum Opti-Seal on my wheels. Simple wipe on, walk away product and lasts for a few months. All I do is hose off my wheels with a strong stream of water to clean them. The sealant also makes them pop.

interesting. i use a couple coats of poorboys wheel sealant on my powdercoated rims, it works good, but i think, like anything car cleaning wise, needs a touch of soap and water to guide dust particles off the surface.

what i do:

wet the wheels and knock off all dust possible.

spray entire wheel, including the caliper, inside of rim, and wheel wells, with desired wheel cleaner. i use one designed for 'painted wheels' but i bet they all do pretty much the same thing, which is dissolve brake dust.

lightly scrub rim surface down with a wash mitt (SEPERATE bucket AND wash mitt from what you clean the car with!!!) and a seperate wash mitt/cleaning utensil for the inside of the rim, and the caliper. then i use a tire scrubber on the tire and wheel well.

if you clean your wheel wells, you have cleaned your wheels well! :twothumbs:

protect them with a sealant, or in your case, polish them.
