My new look
My new look
Since I've drooled over 27thelement's ride ever since I seen his two-tone paint job I decided to make it my very own. Not like were in the same neighborhood or anything :P Although... mine didnt cost me $1500+ It only cost me.... $42.00 Why only $42.00 ? Because its not a paint job, its vinyl. I do vinyl graphics and will soon be getting into vehicle wraps so I decided to practice on my own car for my first job. My car started out as all laser blue, the vinyl is the black and grey pin stripe. It took me 6 hours to do the drivers side and then the next day I finished the passengers side and roof trunk in about the same time. So a total of 12 hours of sweat'n in the hot sun, a roll of paper towels, a few olfa razor blades, and 2 rolls of vinyl.
Then after the wrap job was done I spent about 8 hours the next day painting my headlights & front grill. I still have a few more things I want to do but this is what I've got done so far.
OH... and before I did all that, I removed my SC spoiler and bondo'ed up the holes on top and I figured since I was bondoing away, I decided to shave the trunk lock as well, the antenna is next.
What do you think?

I took alot more pictures but only posted these, didn't want to overkill it :P

It's raining right now so a close up wont do any justice. I'm extremly pleased with the results. I didn't mess up one piece nor did I create any creases or trap any dirt (much better than I can say about my tinting LOL ). I used Oracal 651 gloss black 24". Everything is in one piece except the roof is in 2 pieces spliced right up the middle, you can't even tell unless your right up on it rubbing your finger across it. Honestly though, I'm not sure how long this will last here in Michigan weather but I'll find out soon enough.
The only seam you see is in the pin stripe from the black which is only noticable from about 2-3 feet away. Any farther than that its flawless. It seriously looks like a paint job. I've already been told "nice paint job" etc and they flip when I tell them, "Thanks, only cost me $42.00" LOL Yhen I tell them its vinyl and they get right up to it and want to start picking. LOL
I'll be hitting the BW3's at 12 & mound tonight to celebrate my b-day with some friends. Your more than welcome to stop up.
