The First, One of a Kind Dual Side Exhaust

Well after much time and aggravation I finally completed my dual side exhaust set up. It consists of the stock resonator then a custom Y-pipe where it reduces down to 2" piping and 2 glass packs with 2" X 7 3/4" rectangle shaped exhaust tips. After all the parts and labor getting it welded and hangers made, the whole set up cost me between $200-$250. In the spring when I get my ZZP Mid Length header and downpipe @ 3" I will make another custom set up but going from 3" and then splitting it and reducing it down to 2 1/2" but thats in the spring. Here is the original thread where it all started. https://www.cobaltss.net/forums//showthread.php?t=76467 Now time for the final pix, finally got the tips in and on, thats the only thing that was holding me up. Im still debating on getting the exhaust wrapped or not to help contain the heat.

Vids-

No load, just reving-

Under load 1st and 2nd gear-

Hopefully get a flyby soon.

Final Pix

Thats it for now guys/ girls, lmk what u all think.

Looks good. You can hear more engine than exhaust though. I'd want it to be louder.

Well when the guy welded the exhaust and the hangers, he had it on a lift. I assume there is enough room to get the arms around it. I realized it after i had all the pipes ran and i just said F- it. I do all my own work and have never had it on a lift before i had to get the exhaust and hangers welded.

very nice. ive been thinking about this for a while. did you do most of the work yourself? i think if i were to do it, i might want to route it to holes in the side skirts. maybe route them right to the mesh of the grip tuning side skirts.

again, looks great

I did all the work myself that I could except for the welding and the hangers. Running the tips thru the stock skirts would be nearly impossible because there just isnt enough room. Now an aftermarket set of skirts might work depending on clearance. It was just easier to run the pipes straight out the side under the skirts.

Thanks again. rep left+

+rep for a job well done. Looks like you put alot of time and energy to make sure it was done the correct way and looked good. Thats the kind of mods that deserve +rep. Again, looks good and differant from other peoples. I have a new found respect for those of you who do things like this. Just doing my clutch/flywheel makes me want to baby my car and never break it again haha.

wow man, thats really good. quite impressive that you came up with that kind of idea. like the guy said up above, it would have been cool if it had come out of the skirts, but no worries. those tips look good!

Looks good and sounds sweet.

Are you going to do anything with the empty hole that is in the rear body kit now that there is no exhaust pipe there?

Looks good w/ those tips Nick. I would agree about putting the Grip sideskirts on and running the tips through there. It would look sick!

+rep...

What can I say... maybe i have a lil Einstein in me.. lol. Maybe the skirts will be next spring since everyone wants to see it. The major problem is there just not being enough room.

Thanks man but unless i did some major mod to the undercarriage of the car, the pipes are gona be visiable. The only time u see them is when ur standing a ways away. Plus its not really that low if u look at the rear shot from underneath, I could always tuck it up a lil more where it splits at the Y. + rep returned.

Thanks man, hopefully it doesnt, they seem to stay pretty cool.. knock on wood.

I have been lookin at different body kits and lip kits and i keep seeing the grip side skirts and man... i wonder how much lower those are compared to the stock ss/sc front and rear bumpers and how big the square hole is on the skirt.... man cuz that looks like to me it would be perfect...

I think i smell a new project...
