Headers for 06 2.2

ok so yea i know about the whole issue with the emissions controll thing and all but i was just wondering if there had been any progress in comming up with a solution so that headers can be put on the 06, if i go ahead and put the Xtc down pipe and Gmpp exhaust will i actually get any increase in hp without the headers or will is just be a 500$ sound upgrade lol bc i can use that money to get a jump n the sound system lol

Redline TV on the Speed channel did a show where they had a Cobalt LS donated by a Chevy dealership in California. They dynoed the base car then they put on the GMPP performance exhaust and gained 8 HP on same dyno. They then installed an Injen CAI and gained an additional 7 HP again on the same dyno. Baseline was 125 at rear wheels. 140 HP after both mods -- that's 15 additional HP for approximately $500-$700 depending on where you get the parts. It's up to you on whether or not it's worth it.

Have you actually checked to see if you have air injection? I haven't seen an 06 or 07 yet that actually has it in person, and I have seen a lot of them.

Okay, so you have the air injection. The best thing you can do is put your stock manifold back on and leave it alone. The problem has to be addressed by the aftermarket manifold manufacturers. They have to make the mounting flange compatible with the system which will take some time. And it isn't going to be any time soon. There is nothing you can do about it. Spend your mod money on other things for now.

Actually TTR was working with a manufacture to fix this problem. They were looking for someone to buy one of the headers they sell, send them the stock, and when the new model was made they would send you it along with the stock one and you would just have to return the one you originally purchased. I think thats how the deal went but you would have to talk to the TTR rep on here. Maybe I can find that post.

Here is a link to the post TTR started that states the deal they are trying to do with someone

hmm well if the TTR rep has something like that going on as long as its safe and wont damage the engine id consider buying a header and sending them the stock ones off of my car but id need to talk to them about it first and yes theres another point it will still be a while anyway before something is developed but i will only be running the car for a little while longer im not making it go through a winter so i can possibly take the headers off when i pull it off the road and send it to them, there definetely is a lot of other things i want to do to the car mabe i should do a poll and let u guys decide what i do to it next lol

You want A header, not some headers. If there is some air plumbing coming out of the top center of your exhaust manifold, right through the hole in the heat shield, then you have it. Go take the plastic cover off the engine, stick your head in there toward the back side of the engine, and take a looky-see.

Here's mine... 2006 LT https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/show...912#post453912

You don't HAVE to have the EGR hooked up but I'm not sure how happy it'll make the ECM.
