Koni rear shocks with coilovers

Like the thread topic states, has anyone used Koni Yellows with a coilover spring setup? I have K-sports with a blown rear shock, was looking at Koni Yellows instead of buying replacement k-sport shocks.

Any advice here?

If you track the car and don't care about ride height, yes. Coilovers is a good compromise between handling and stance.

Compromising performance for stance in a Cobalt makes me sad.

Lol. It's FWD. Performance is already compromised.

They have a lot more performance potential than they do for a show car.

That doesn't mean it is a good idea. To each his own though. I'm biased towards performance. I also think the proper way to stance a car is on bags so that you can actually drive the thing if you want to too. IMO if you are scraping either tires or the bottom of your car, you are doing it wrong.

I am scraping neither and I am on coils. The point is that you do not need the performance of yyz springs on the street, and many cobalts never see a track or a strip. Colodude tracks his car so yyzs are the best option for him. I do not. It is simply a fun car that I road race from time to time. Therefore, coils will do just fine for me and many others.

I never said coils were dumb or anything I was just simply stating that sacrificing performance for stance on a Cobalt saddened me. Just an opinion of someone who doesn't matter on the internet. I think people should do whatever they want to their own car to meet their desires but that doesn't mean I have to think it's the best route to take. I love my YYZ springs but I only have the stock base suspension to compare it to and it is just so much more confidence inspiring even off the track. Before my car just kind of floated around.

Probably has more to do with this car not being in production since 2010 than people recommending the best springs you can get for our car over coilovers.

Haha you must be new here. Go on cobaltss gang and see how active that is.

OP just wanted an opinion on putting Koni's in his ksports and everyone is just telling him to get yyzs. And once again since you don't seem to get it, what is BEST is determined by what you are using it for.

He actually asked if anyone had done it and if anyone had any advice. I get what you are saying though. I have been on here and asked about doing something to my car and people tell me not to do it or other advice I didn't ask for. However, OP explicitly asked for advice. Seems like the general consensus is to ditch the K-sports.

And as far as cobaltss gang are you talking about a facebook group? Facebook sucks so that would be unfortunate.

I wouldn't do it. The damping rate would probably be mis-matched to the spring rate.

I used an SSTC strut with Megan coilover springs in the rear. Bouncy as hell.
