seized motor or supercharger? 2009 2.2 G5

Was driving today like normal, did a few highway pulls and car running fine. As i did a slow u turn i heard a loud clunk followed by something that sounded like air let out, like when you unplug the brake booster and it releases pressure. Now the car will not start, the starter tries to turn the motor but will not budge. I checked the motor oil and looks clean, no shiny flakes or missing oil.

i checked the air filter and belt to make sure they were good and the are. I cannot check the car until tomorrow when i get it towed home so i have to wait until i can take it apart and find out.

Only thing i can think of is the supercharger seized or the motor is seized. Has anyone ever had the supercharger seize up on them? What could cause it?

btw the car is a 2009 2.2 G5, m62 supercharger with 2.9 pulley and 60lb injectors, with a dual pass and cai by AEM.

This, and if a blower seized up the belt would slip before it would stop a starter. Pretty likely that you seized the motor.

when i would crank it last night it would try to move and the pull back when i stopped. So im hoping its the supercharger so i can replace and sell it 😅

My buddy had a seized AC compressor and his car would not start becuase of the belt tension so it is technically possible

Went to try to start it without the supercharger and it started, the supercharger is seized. The pulley will not turn. Going later today to tow it home and start disassembling of the supercharger to see what went wrong. There looks to be oil by the supercharger plug on the snout. Wonering if somehow it leaked oil? I do wash the car regularly and never noticed the oil there. More info later tonigh.

thanks for the help guys

Interesting, I assumed the gearing ratio would be great enough to overcome the friction

luckily it was only the supercharger. So took it apart earlier today and i was hoping something was wrong with the snout, but it seems like a washer went into the supercharger. Really weird i know, really unexpected. There are no washers that i know of in the air intake or anyway for it to get in There. It really has me puzzled as i put the supercharger on and have not removed anything on the car for the last 4-5 months.

i did take some pictures of the damage that i will post now.

sorry could not get the pics posted, heres a link to the album though. Hope you all can see

Does anyome think it will work if i just put it back together and try to run it like that? Or just change out the case since its crack and clean up the rotors where the washer got sruck. Would it work?

the case is junk as it is, no point in putting the rotors in another case. just get a whole blower, they arent that expensive.

These are too cheap used to even bother with that. It's worth whatever salvage aluminum is worth there. Your just lucky the rotors stopped the washer from going further or you could be looking at a new head or even a block.

Wow bro this has me puzzled as well no idea how a washer could have gotten into your blower ? I've had mine apart a lot, I've replaced the needle bearings, snout bearings, put a new rotor pack in it & ive never seen a washer anywhere

Not only have I not seen that size of washer anywhere in the intake system, how did it suck it into the SC.

I've seen a seized alternator do the same thing on a Chevy truck. Was pulling on the belt so hard it caused the power steering pump bracket to flex.

Yea i did not see any washers like that anywhere near the intake manifold or brackets. I cleaned and made sure nothing was in the superchsrger or manifold before installing it. And that was about 5 months ago so it would have broke after sometime not 5 months later. It will remain an unsolved mystery lol.

still looking for a supercharger, the one time i cannot find one lol

i was looking for something inexpensive. I dont plan on keeping the car, so just want to replace it and sell the car to get something else. Maybe somewhere around the $200 range. I sold my old supercharger for $180 and that one was very well taken care of.
