09 cobalt vs 04 neon

Hey guys, I’m not sure if I’m aloud to post this here but I’d like your input on weather I’d be able to beat a neon srt4 with a intake and a tune for a 20psi spike and holds 17, not sure if theres anything else done to it but it seems pretty loud. All I have done to my Balt is gms1 and a full Hahn exhaust with a catted down pipe. Or should I wait until I have an intake and a custom tune for 22-24psi? Thanks

The srt4 has a bigger motor. Your gms 1 will limit power to around 290 hp no matter what other mods you do. It should be close, coming down to who gets traction. If you got a custom hp tune from a reputable person, especially e47, you would take it.

Thanks for the reply, best thing we got around here is 94 octane with 10% ethanol, just went for a ride in his car a couple mins ago and it pulls hard in the low rpm but that smaller turbo runs out well before redline. Hoping with a 3” catless, typhoon intake and a hp tune I should be able to pull on him.

As was said, would be close now. Other stock turbo srt4's (with turbo maxed out) seem to trap 107-110mph at low-mid 13 sec range. They make 270-290 whp at that level. Even weigh about the same at 2900 lbs.

all about where you probably are with bolt ons and gms1.

would be close.

until you get a custom tune. Then you should pull well on him.

Do you have money on the line? If not just race him and find out then post the video up here.

This. You can crunch numbers all day, but at the end of it all, the only true factor is the person in the driver's seat and the willingness to go out in a safe area and let 'er rip.

No money or anything physical on the line, more or less just the title of who has the fastest car in school. I’ve only got about a month till I make getting tuned so I might just put it off until then.

I agree, just trying to get a benchmark so I don’t go out there and get smoked haha, I find he has a lot more low end torque due to his smaller turbo but it runs out up top and I think that’s where I’d be able to excel.

When you get a real tune it's much harder to get traction.

even with the competitive mode on it still feels like it’s limiting the power to keep traction

Get stickier tires. What's the tread wear rating on the tires you currently have (it's on the sidewall).

Just race for fun, winter tires aren't going to give you very good traction unless it's snow and ice.

While I believe he means for car ownership; when I race for "pinks", it's stealing the other guy's girlfriend (if worth actually racing for).

Neon may get you on the launch but as soon as you get traction it will probably real it in. I've ran against a few srt4's and got them. My last run was against one with a turbo upgrade and my ass got handed to me, mainly because my clutch was taking a crap and I couldn't shift into the next gear in high rpm because the clutch was not fully disengaged. Another advantage is the no lift shift but I have never used it due to I dont want f#ck my car up

I could never get it to shift right, later found out the ******** that had my car before snapped the shifter cables off the mount on the trans and ziptied them. Saw it the first time I pulled the trans and then ordered them up, then when I put the stage 4 clutch in I put them in. Weary on using nls with a aggressive clutch. Don't want to blow up the trans lol

that’s fair haha, I’m not sure if after bolt ons and a tune if I’ll be using NLS in spite of my clutch
