Got gas!!!

So anyway im sitting here just wondering ... what kinda top gas mileage have you guys turned out with your cobalts be it SS/SC or not. I drive a mix of freeway and stop and go traffic every weekday fro about 22~24 miles a day. I recorded using the econ. mode that I can get about 28~ m/pg if I drive at ease not using the SC too much and when I drive semi agressive I can get about 24~ m/pg. I have yet to take out the car on an open highway or up into the mountain areas for some leasure driving but of course im going to.

Also what kinda gas you puttin in your cars??? I stick with Quicktrip 90% of the time and other times i get some circa jerka (circle k) or costco depending on where I am at the time of need. I stick with premium because I tried regular 87 and the reduction of performance is so noticable that I wasted the entire tank in two days cus I wanted it back on pure premium. Anyway give us all some insight on what ever you all use and get for mileage vs driving style and brand vs octane!!!

Sunoco 94, my best so far was the cruise home from albany ny. around 80-90 for 300 miles or so. some times a bit faster but mostly cruised. Got like 32 MPG. Did hit a bit bad traffic at the end of the trip.

Before the Psi Fi kit I was averaging 28mi a gallon... 70% freeway 30% stop and go.
After kit about 25mi a gallon... Although before the kit I drove to cali and got 30mi a gallon on all freeway. With the kit I get 33-35mi gallon... so thats better...

I only fill up with mobil or shell.... When I lived in Michigan I only filled up at sunoco (94 octane ) or shell

I would hope so. since it is a very reputible company. If you find any dirt let us know, so I can stop thinking it is so much better.

i am getting a cobalt ss s/c soon, and i don't care what kind of gas i have to put in it... because it's MUCH better gas mileage than my truck. I have a 96 dodge ram right now and i beat the **** out of it. In the city i get 8 miles per gallon, premium. I have to use premium b/c of the performance computer, it pings without it.

Since 91 is the best I can get at the typical gas station, that is what I run. I'd prefer to run the 93 oct, if we could get it here.

I always wanted to know what the srt's are looking at in terms of gas mileage with various upgrades and seeing that exhondaman gets better economy on the highway is encouraging for us ss owners ... I used to own a 3000gt that was rated 18mpg on the street and 24mpg on the highway but i was getting like 14 on the street and about 20 on the highway it freakin sucked and all I had was a stillen intake and custom cat back dual exhaust

Stock I got about 23-24 around town, about 26-27 on the highway. I took the wing off and got 28-29 on the highway.

When I was on the stock turbo running about 280whp, I got about 20 around town and 25ish on the highway.

With the turbo upgrade and pushing 400+ whp, I get about 24 around town (unless I get on it) and haven't really taken it for a decent drive on the highway yet.

I actually thought about doing that and adding 94 to the list but once created I don't think it can be edited ... I looked in the tools but can't find anything or add another poll sorry ~.~

Go to this site. the top auto manufacturers got together and found which gas companies have the best gas, as in additives, for your car. Also, C&D did an article on this, and recommend heeding the info. from this site.

I don't know, but my car feels a bit stronger when I put QT gas in it, then when i put Shell gas in it..Maybe it's all in my head, but I swear there's a slight difference.

no im sure your right I used to put cirka jerka but I have been using quiktrip lately and it does feel better and the engine just seems to respond more smoothly they wouldn't make a big deal outa ranking the top tier stations if they didn't do any good right?

I've always put 93 in the DHP'ed Monte Carlo. Shell or Exxon/Mobil.

Don't bother with a higher octane unless your PCM is tuned for greater spark advance than stock.

If your SS/SC is using stock tuning, the highest octane you can readily find is best. Be it 91 or 9bazillionwith 10+ hp additives.

2.4 VVTs? Eh... Run premium anyways. Its what the PCM is tuned for.

2.2s. Run 87 unless you're **** or You've had your PCM tuned. Also monitor your fuel consumption, performance, fuel mileage.. Monitor all of these things. That way, when you switch to a tank or three of 89 you can actually quantify the changes in the engine instead of basing everything off the butt-dyno. Your **** isn't as accurate as you think.

Now what is better? Sunoco Ultra 94, or Shell V-Power? I have both across the street from each other, so which is the better pick?
