Minimum Post Requirements for Classifieds

I know this has been suggested and i have never been scammed on here...but i feel that there should be a minimun amount of posts to post in the classified section of the site... I see all these new members with 10 posts posting parts for sale and i just feel its all scamming... Lets get a vote on this guys

I can do 10 posts in 5 minutes... I say 100 is reasonable, and we could limit it to not being able to post new threads, but they could still reply to current ads if they are looking to purchase.

Exactly, then we will have scammers making spam posts. There for it only takes them 50mins to be able to sell something.

Scammers will find a way around anything. This would be pointless and hard to keep track of.

I don't really think it will help. Some people can just be complete post ******. I think the people who start threads with like 1 post are people who just wanted to sell what they have and searched for a good place to sell it and they happened not to be members here. (for the most part at least)

Exactly. QFT.

Also we have seen many new members become post ****** very quickly, It happens. It's easy to get 100 legit posts in one day, it just takes time. And if they plan on scamming somebody for a few hundred bucks, then its worth it for them. Say it takes them 3 hours to make 100 real posts and they scam someone for $300. Thats $100/hr, Thats damn good wages for doing nothing.

You will never stop them. Face it, this won't help either.

How is posting a minimum amount gonna stop the scamming?

Scammers will be scammers and they'll do it at any "minimum post" cost.

I don't think it will make anything any better.

This would be more effective, but still will nto stop them. They can make an account and finish the post count and let it sit, or even make multiple accounts and fill there quotes and have backups.

ts never ending and will never be stopped, sorry.

This could also have a negative effect on the classifieds for the new members who are not scammers. It could prevent reeal legit non-scammers from selling items. Our FS/WTB section is nothing gigantic and I feel it's fine where it's at.

I got an ider, how about this. Okay obviously is a mod's job to monitor the entire site, along with admin. What if we were to have a mod or appoint a mod to STRICTLY monitor the marketplace. In addition, the mod should have a feature that regular members have no access to, this would be the equal to the "feedback percentage" of ebay. That way we can have honesty with the percentage number and people can't ***** it like the rep system.

In addition to our own feedback percentage, it should be displayed below the photos and vgarage feature.

So if no one has sold before, they won't have any feedback, however lets say I just joined. I buy a intake manifold for my 2.2 from member X. I get the part and everything is good. Both the seller and buyer should report to the mod about the transaction so both would get the desired/respected percentage on their feedback.

Just an idea but think of the possibilities.

Lets face it, I would rather buy from someone who has 98-100% feedback and that is the same if I am selling I would want excellent feedback stating I will get the money.

That's a fair idea, but would also be very time consuming and a big responsibility for whichever mod decided to take on that chellenge. Still, also it won't stop them all, you ahve to get feedback somehow and most scammers will just make a new account with no feedback, and some idiot will see a deal and jump on it and lose there money.

We need to implement the iTrader rating system here. They have it in numerous forums I frequent and works great. It works like the ebay rating system.

got this from the prelude forums on how their itrader works.

iTrader
This forum now features a seller and buyer feedback system called iTrader. This is a system designed to help users determine good buyers and sellers. It works much like eBay's feedback system.

Some Guidelines for usage
-DO NOT give people feedback for the same item twice
-Please DO include the threads location in the feedback
-Please contact the other party before leaving negative feedback. Often you can work out any issue with a sale
-Please don't issue retaliation feedback to someone for giving you negative feedback
-DO NOT give fake feedback and try to be specific about items if no classified thread is sourced
-Only FIRST hand feedback is allowed

Using iTrader
iTrader can be accessed from a users posts here by clicking the score:

The score indicates the amount of positive feedback a user has:
Positive: +1
Neutral: 0
Negative: -1

iTrader's interface can also be accessed from the user's profile:

By clicking submit you can give the user feedback on a transaction.

Remember
-Paste the Classified ads link where asked
-Be honest
-You may leave detailed transaction notes that are only visible to buyer, seller, and administration.

Abuse of the iTrader system will result in removal of feedback, banning, or other punishments depending on circumstances.
PreludeOnline.com cannot be held liable for transactions that take place on the board so use at your own risk.

I think i'm prob the most noobish in this thread, 100 posts would be sweet, so i can start scamming right away. j/k i'll prolly never sell anything on here. What if you set it to 100 posts, with minimal membership length required. Have a max and/or min posts per day. Exempt from all rules after member for 1.5years???? would that work. If/when i buy something on here, i want to feel safe

itrader ftw
