I vote for me, I'm always on here and actually play police to some conversations that get out of hand(you can look it up). Hell, I totaled my 08 SS/TC and I'm still here. I'm down to hold the Duties and Resposibilities as a CSS.net God.... I mean Mod.

I don't care to play god, I just want to be able to make public announcements, make stickies, and keep an important thread alive (like the official drag/dyno threads).

90% of this forum could not handle that. Mod's have to have knowledge. They have to know a good amount about the platform and engines. Members look up to moderators for advice, so you can not have a moderator posting a lot of misinformation.

Mods need to answer all PM's and reported problems in a timely manner. Which can be much harder then it sounds when you can easily get 100's of PM's in one day, espeically from a site of this caliber.

Lastly mods don't need be active in posting as much as just active in viewing and reading threads. Just because a mod doesn't post, doesn't mean they're not patrolling.

What we really need are mods designated to specific forums. A new mod or two for the forum as a whole couldn't hurt either.
I agree with this statement. I'm not so sure about assigning a moderator to a particular area seeing as this forum is relatively small compared to to those that do assign a moderator to a particular area.

Not really, check out Importsnc.com, they arent half this size and have one-three mods per section.

But yes a majority of the mods aren't around anymore... Those looking to become mods should

a.) Be helpful
b.) Follow the Rules
c.) Report issues, not get involved

We notice helpful active members who stay out of trouble, and there names do come up when we are looking to add moderators to the forum.

Now, if only we could get an Admin to run the forums, and give it the attention it really needs :hehe:

If you guys understood the frustration the mods go through to get even the simplest things done via the Admin you might see why most of the mods don't even bother anymore.

Heck, it took about 9 months of constant badgering just to get BlackSS promoted to mod status.

Good luck with that, lol... Me and BlackSS are probably going to be the only people you see posting

That's all JonyyB and RedCavy's doing... as you can see from my avatar I support the Powell Racing logo's in the sig (as long as they don't contain a web address)

*shrug* that was like 2 years ago man, I don't remember... According to the edit note it was because of foul language.

Do any of the names flying around have any qualifications or are you guys just going by who posts the most?

Interested to see where this goes. I agree with slowswap on a good solution for moderating on here. And like REIGN SS said you need to help people out as a mod. Having a designated section for each mod would also be a good idea and help to keep threads on track and some of the bull out of them.

any chance you "MODS" could grant SOME rights to people to run a section to make announcements and make stickies and close threads?

Thank you for posting, Reign. I sent JonnyB a question to have our Dyno Day put onto the home page. He never replied so I PM'd 3 other mods and only 1 responded. And he told me to talk to JonnyB about it which SUCKS atm. Do you have the power to put threads onto the hone page? If so, you can find the Northern Virginia Ecotecs Virginia Beach Dyno Day in the mid east section. Or just PM me.

Any mod can do a thread on the home page, as long as the meet meets the criteria, just shoot me a PM with a link to the thread and I'll take care of it.

Criteria: https://www.cobaltss.net/forums/front-page-news-17/promote-your-cobalt-meet-front-page-169406/

you would need to contact the admin for that.
This is what Braineater sent me.

i have only giving you ONE warning dude. my attitude is poor at times but i haven't banned anyone in over a year probably. i've been the same since i first joined the site, it's a hit or miss if people like me. i, for one, do not hold grudges though. you're cool in my book.
