and im sure vince has already dyno tuned a cobalt with those cams...so all You would want a dyno for is to see just how much hp your making at what rpm

A track tune is just as good if not better for boosted cars due to the fact that the only thing you can't see is the HP and that don't mean **** if you can't keep it to the ground. A dyno isn't going to tell you when you are running to much boost and break the tires loose. To me its the way to go. Allot of people prefer to do it at the track.

a track tune cant tell you when your gaining or losing hp, plain and simple.
if i put your car on a dyno u can start advancing or retarding spark till u see the hp peak...
how do you know whats the best A/F ratio to run if your tuning on a track ? on a dyno you can change your target AF to see which makes the most power
while track tuning is fine and good you cant COMPLETE your tune without a dyno...thats why trifecta has taken all that hard work out of the equation and already done it for you

Good point, all that power is useless if you don't have the traction for it.

he did a 2.2. i think im the first 2.4 with them that he'll be tuning. the 2.2 made 55whp over stock. im hoping for that at minimum which means ill be in the 211+whp range

yes...vince would very much appreciate it if you sent half now along with your mod list

and traction is pretty simple..good suspension, good tires,,not to mention know how to launch.....your telling me youd rather your car have LESS power simply cus you couldnt get traction ???

From my experience, the tune that will give you the best peak HP/TQ combo doesn't always yeild the best times at the track, is what I am saying. I don't give a **** about who makes more HP. I am not saying that I don't believe in dyno's and I guess you can say its a good starting point. Trust me the first tune that I was sent had no business on a track, and we are still trying to fine tune it before the bash.

how do you know ? your track tuning, not dyno tuning...so you dont actually know which gave you the best hp/tq...your just going by which gave you the best 1/4 times...which Could have been the time you had the wind on your back...see what im getting at ?

I have done both. To me the track time is the most important part of the process to others the dyno tuning step is the most important. When we would dyno tune we would always take the car to the track to get the car fine tuned. In some cases on car that we new and what it loved and hated we would skip the dyno and take it straight to the track, unless the costumer wanted a piece of paper that said how much HP/TQ they had.

Another thing is I am not a pro tuner I only no what the people I learned from and have taught me. I have been working on cars as far back as I can remember and learn as i go. This is just how we prefer to do it. You should know your car well enough to what is or isn't a safe afr and what it takes to optimize it.

not really a question of safe af..but optimal af.
after setting my fuel maps to maintain target af i put the car on a dyno and change the target af to see just what af ratio makes the most power across the board.
too rich and you lose power, to lean ...well we all know what happens there.

I talked to Vince and here is how he wants to do it.

1. Tunes are now $200 if the $75 down payment or full amount is paid by 11:59 pm Feb 20th. he is setting up a URL form to order and pay for the tunes. Balance due that day before tune is installed.
2 .if you prepaid for yours please send him ur VIN# and mods info as soon as possible
3. Any tunes ordered after that will be $250 and will be done in order received. he will try to do as many as he can that day for walk on tunes.
3. If you do it in advance it will be easy to do the tweak tunes using the data logs.

i will put up a new post w the URL to order the tunes once i get it.

let me know if there are any questions

nope, i drove my ass aaaalll the way to new braunfels for Corey to tune it. I love their work, and he is an awesome guy, great prices as well. But he couldn't fix my idle on my car from the 60s, which i cant stand. So now im getting Vince to retune it complelty...
