so I called these guys to find out how much a tune will cost.. i was pretty cordial

Me - "how you doing? i have 05 s/c cobalt. i was wondering if you guys can tune this car"
Dude - *aggrivated* "MAN YOU'RE LIKE THE THIRD PERSON TO CALL ABOUT IT! and the answer is YES we do TUNE it!"
Me - "alright... how much do you guys charge"
Dude - "its 600 bucks"

I guess they don't like money.. lost one customer and 600 bucks

 

Cost to tune around here is $650-700/car at the shops. And they don't do jack squat. And most mechanics hate these types of cars because we don't have a mullet or a handlebar mustache, or the $600-700 for the tune.

And do you really think they KNOW how to tune the LSJ? Come on!

 

I'm sick of crap businesses. What the hell is wrong with the world today?

tunes usually cost around $350'ish with 3 good runs. Then after a certain period of time they charge a little more per hour if it takes longer than expected

It only seems like a rip off because we have a cheaper alternative to compare it to. But think about custom setups.

I did a 2006 Twin Turbo Corvette with HPtuners, and it was well worth his money to get a custom tune, because the difference between my tune and APS's yeilded no knock and mine had ~60whp more.

When you factor in the labor, the dyno time, and the credits required to tune our cars, $600 is not that much profit.

 

ill pay 600 bux.. its not the price.. i was just pissed how he answered my question.. maybe he was having a bad day? ive been up since 5AM because I had PT test to grade and 3 more of my close friends just went to Iraq today and someone I worked with for like a year died few months ago in Iraq.. I'm having a pretty crappy LIFE.. he didn't have to have an attitude because 3 people called to ask that question.. it's a tune/dyno shop what else are people going to ask him? "Hows the weather?"

 

I got mine Tuned by Intense for $175 and that's for as many pulls as it takes not 3, like most places, I think $600 is a rip off.

 

shop I go to Race Related clearwater Florida. 1st tune was $450 my retune to the meth today was $300. 260whp 224tq
