Rocky Mountain Ecotec 2010 News Thread - Utah Chapter

Hey everyone! Welcome to the first Rocky Mountain Ecotec - Utah Chapter News Thread updates....

I am sure that many of you are wondering why I have posted a 'news thread' for the UT chapter. After all there are several RME threads already (not to mention you have a separate CO chapter). Well, think of this as a condensed way of finding out everything that is going on in UT at a glance - and if you see something you like then feel free to join us...

Now this isn't to say we are abandoning our other thread... we will certainly try to keep to alive and kicking (so to speak), but it will probably be more of a conversational piece.

The plan right now is to update this thread once a week with all of the news and events going on in your area... for more information check out: http://www.rockymountainecotec.net/index.php?board=37.0

Monday, Feb 1, 2010:

Events: Triad voting! Charity committee sign ups! Planning for the year?
Right now the polls are open folks! We are currently taking votes for the third RME UT chapter triad. Forum members are encouraged to check in and vote for their choice prior to 2/15/2010.

This year RME is going to try to sponsor a charity event. The theme we are focusing on is "Support the Troops". Sign ups for the planning committee will be open through this week. We are looking for some individuals that would like to come share ideas and help get this thing off the ground. Check out the site and sign up!

Have an idea for what you would like to do this year? Right now we are opening the floor and gathering ideas for RME UT 2010. If you have something to share then please post up on the site! As members tell you - these things are always evolving and all ideas are equally kicked around...

Until next week...

Events: Final Week for Triad Voting! Rice of the Month! Cruise Suggestions!
Well the charity committee sign ups are closed. Big thanks to all members (both full-time and part-time) that signed up! Bill will post a date and time for the first meeting soon. Also, this is the last week to get in your votes for the final triad... The poll closes Feb 16th so if you haven't voted yet make sure you do.

Looks like our schedule for the year is pretty set... Take note of events and dates - and make sure to clear your calandars! Right now we are gathering cruise suggestions for our first event in March. If you have a suggestion, post it up. We will continue to take cruise suggestions throughout the year. Prior to an event cruise we will put up a poll that includes all suggestions and go from there. The first poll will be put up on March 12 and will run through the 19th for our cruise on the 27th...

Last, but not least - we have started our first monthly club contest. Introducing the all new Rice of the Month contest! Each month we will pay hommage to all things rice in our area in a spirited competition amongst members. For rules and information, please check out http://www.rockymountainecotec.net/i...p?topic=2743.0

Until next week!

Events: Announcing the final triad! Get your cruise suggestions in! Get your entries in for Rice of the Month!
With the holiday and all, things got a little behind over here - sorry for keeping everyone on the edge of their seats...

The triad voting is now complete...and the final triad is:

SuperbaltSS - Shaun

Thanks to everyone for voting - we had some really great candidates! It will take us a week or two to figure everything out - so try to break us in slowly...

We have moved up the first official RME meet to March 20. As a result, the cruise poll will go up on March 5, 2010. This only gives us a couple of weeks to get in the first set of cruise suggestions. So, if you have an idea of a really great cruise that you want to pitch, please check out http://www.rockymountainecotec.net/i...p?topic=2737.0 and post up!

Voting for the RME Rice of the Month begins February 27, 2010. Make sure to get your entries in asap (deadline for entries will be midnight, February 26th, 2010)!

Events: Get in your cruise suggestions! Last week for Rice of the Month Entries! Charity Committee Meeting!
Ok... so this week I don't have much of an excuse....

Remember that the deadline for the first 'cruise poll' is quickly approaching - make sure to get in your suggestions before March 5, 2010!

Also, this is the last week for ROTM competition. The poll goes up on Feb 27th so get your entries in now! Right now we only have one entry - so this month's winner may be automatic - guess we shall see if there is a dark horse waiting in the corner?

Last, but not least....
Charity Event Committee Meeting
Day / Date: Saturday February 27 2009
Time: 6:00 pm (sharp)
Place: McDonalds (On the corner of 2100 South and 300 West in Salt Lake City. Just off I-15)

Remember, if you signed up to be part of the committee - this is your opportunity to get in your ideas so we can put together our game plan. See everyone there!

Until next week!

Events: Vote on RME money proposal! Winner for Rice of the Month! Schedule has been updated! Charity committee update!

- A proposal has been brought forth to spend RME chapter money on an RME banner. Currently we are taking a poll to see what members think of the proposal before we commit any funds. The poll was put up on February 28 and will last for two weeks (closes March 14). We encourage all members to vote (after all this is your money we want to spend ) For more information and access to the poll, please visit: http://www.rockymountainecotec.net/i...p?topic=2794.0

- Congratulations to our Rice of the Month Winner:

scotch89

If you have an idea for a forum contest, post up! We are always looking for great forum participation ideas!

- The RME Utah chapter schedule has been updated! This new change reflects the addition of the MS Walk for a Cure meet on April 24 (come on out and support!) and a switch between the cruise originally scheduled in August and the charity meet originally scheduled in July. To check out the changes, please visit:

- Speaking of charity meets - The charity committee held its first meeting on Saturday, February 27th 2010. Here are the meeting minutes:
Well as Tyler has said, we have ironed out a lot of the details. Here is what we came up with:

Date/Time:
August 14th, 2010 from 2-6pm

Place:
Iceberg in Taylorsville

What we plan on doing is a food drive for the UT Food Bank. We will basically be hosting a charity car meet/car show. The unique thing about the car show is that we will not have a judging panel per se. Instead we will charge 10 cans/food items to register each car. (Each registration will also receive a voting slip.) Then for every two cans donated after that, a person will receive a voting slip so that they can choose any car they like. At the end of the night we will tally up the votes and give out a trophy for first, second, and third place. (The voting will certainly be biased, but we will raise a lot of food this way.) We will also have a drawing/raffle that will be separate from the 'car show'. Each raffle ticket will be two cans/ticket or 5 cans for 3 tickets.

Right now our plan is contingent upon securing the location. Bill is going to start making some phone calls, but he may task committee members with following up. If he contacts you, please try to provide your full support...

We also need to start up some feelers for sponsors... What we are looking for are businesses that would like to donate for the raffle.

Bill is getting me some prices for the trophies, so Josh and I should be able to cover those as part of our contribution. Right now getting the raffle donations should be a focus...

Also, we are thinking of using the club money to purchase a banner (possibly 2?) for the club... with all of the upcoming functions we have lined up we will need to have something to get our name out in the public view... I will post a poll for members to vote....

The next committee meeting will be March 26th at 7pm. Bill will announce a location when it gets closer. We will use this meeting to provide updates and close out some loose ends...I encourage all committee members to come if possible...

Our goal is to start advertising this on all of the forums by the beginning of May...

As you can see, we have alot of things coming up in the near future so stay tuned...

Until next week!
