Question for SoCal Ecotecs

So its been mentioned to me about other "clubs" being more structured and having monthly dues and things like this and i wanted to ask u guys if this is somewhere we want to go now or what? I wouldnt mind stepping up and being the president and then having a Vice pres up north more and having a council thru out the different locations and a secretary and things like that?! I have been hit up for things like toys for tots and **** like that and its hard to get things orginized and then have to go on here and have a "poll" for everything. i think this could only better us as a club

organized FTW.. i was apart of the SCLRA and GM ETERNAL.. both very good car clubs. GME does car show's and event's like toy's for toddler's but dosent have a real president. jus the founder and some friend's. daniel is a very nice guy and i enjoyed bieing in his club. the SCRLA was more organized but didnt do event's like that. we had a presiden and a treasurer but it was mostly close friends that like to hang out and all had lsj's. niether had dues.. its up to the lsj owner's to discuss and make a decision as i no longer own one.

that is why i brought this up dues would be stuff for like bbqs and stickers and things like that so its cheaper for everyone then coming out of pocket at the time needed

in the club that i have been in we had dues 10$ a month and when **** came up(for example the san diego fires) we would donate to it...it may not be what everyone wants but it helps out and shows were arent ******** and when u take from the pot no one has to come up with an amount that day

The whole idea sounds good. I’m koo with it if every one is good with it. I see it as it would make use stronger as a crew. The donating part sound awesome, when your in a crew and you donate to the need your given the crew a good name and people respect that. Doing this can make us stronger or weaker. Raven if you’re ready to step up for this I’m down.

As long as we can agree what the funds will be going towards it shouldn't be a problem. I know some clubs use funds for when new members come in help them out with something for their cars. But then again if we are talking about organizing we can try and get some sponsors for the team. None of us are out there acting stupid in the streets, and if we are getting as big as it seems we shouldnt have a problem getting some sponsors to help us out.

I am in on this too. This way things can be handeled then let everyone know what is going on and what is coming up. Like all fututre meets will always be on the 3rd sunday of every month, just an example. Charity support will gives us a good name real fast and they will look for us next time around and may even use our name on radio/tv spots.
We can also use the funds to get
-Canapies to show who we are and have shade at the meets when there is no trees.
-I was going to look at prices to get Letterman jackets(like all the jocks wear around school or even the huge car clubs/organizations).
-I went and looked at prices to get vinyl for the club and the guy i talked to would give a discount on bulk buys.
We can always talk more about stuff like this later at the meets or on our site, whenever that is finished.

for those with the questions i hope this answers it....
for a club on being structured the way i see it we had 18 cars at the last meet..which is pretty much all of us. if we get structured we have people to handle what where when and how so we dont have something like the rose bowl meet...no offense to jimbo because i am sure he can plan a great meet but that wasnt orginized and was pretty fucked for him to hafta run to get a grill but then everyone rolled on us..if we had dues (even tho i am sure he didnt mind) jimbo wouldnt have had to run out and get a grill nor would casol hafta pay for el pollo loco for everyone.. thats just 2 examples of **** in the past 2 meets..and being structured we would have bilaws for joining/being apart of socal ecotecs..not just if u have a ecotec u get a sticker because u have to think about it if we just let anyone join in without really knowing them and they go ripping it up and chp sees the sticker what u think they are thinking the next time they see one?! and going back to the meets when we do a bbq and its impossible to get people to get ketchup and mustard for our family u think they are there for us? just things to think about and i am sure the people who have been in clubs with some type of structure can understand where i am coming from..
presidents:would be to be the point of contact for the club and handle all meetings with vendors/sponsors. overall incharge of making sure that the meets are orginized right and everyone is happy within the club.
vicepresidents: would be to support the pres and act as pres in his absence
treasury: would be in charge of the money and making sure everyone is informed on where there money is going to and how much is in the pot and will be head of council to make sure everything that is put out will get to all council members.
council memebers: how this will work is have 1 or 2 people thru out socal to run things for example the people in there area arent ******* off and repping us bad and when the meet is in there area be the one to make sure of the spot and cruises ect.

Like i said before i wouldnt mind being president seeings how i have been for the most part the point of contact for us and the founder of us. if someone else would like to do it thats fine also. if anyone would like to go for vice pres or treasury(u gotta be voted in for this for sure because this is everyones money) once these 3 are picked i figured we would (for now) stick with 10 council memebers so we would vote in 7 council memebers so if u are intrested in this please post that u are and ur area that way we can not have everyone on council from L.A.

all and all guys i think this would be best for us and with our 2 close buds (jimbo and hampster) shipping out with there balts we can only do nothing but spread in chapters and they can be presidents of there chapters and grow from there..

i wasnt being cocky i just have the confidence that i could do that job and get it done right. president or not i just want this to be something rather than just an idea tossed around some people have more riding on this then others (casol's shop for example) if we dont get our **** together and get that mans shop out there he doesnt provide food to the table for his family. no one might have thought of it that way but this is more than a sticker on ur windshield to some people..

Im not in your crew but I think a structured team would work well for you, and the dues wouldnt have to be huge or anything. We have practiced this method in my team for awhile now and it has worked well

ok it's time i put my .02 in. i like structure. but i'm not about beurocracy. that would be my biggest fear of this thing getting too structured. this started out as just a bbq at jerrods house once upon a time. i like that it has progressed into a club. i do agree with scheduled meets and meetings of members. but lets not forget this all started out so a bunch of guys and gals could get together and have a good time. cruise our cars and be social. i like the sponsorship thing as well but i don't want to be bound to terms and agreements. hence why i havent sought out a sponsorship for my cars build. i think we need more organization for the planning of the meets and things like this....ie meets will be held on the 3rd sunday of every month at a spcific location. location subject to change of course. that way we can go on different cruise routes everytime. as far as the pasadena meet went......well the bbq was supposed to be there but. the person bringing it was hijacked by his superiors before the meet. no ones fault so i went and bought one. it will come with me to every meet from now on till i leave in july. at that point i will put it in the hands of someone who has never missed a meet. this way we will never run into these kind of problems. last meet was a blast! it reminded me of the ones at yorba linda . minus the park being closed but you can't fight mothernature. sometimes **** happens(wildfires, earthquakes etc etc.). do we need a president and a specific heirarchy? i don't know. we never had it before. i just don't want anyone going on a power trip. i think a council would work better for this group so everyone gets a vote. and specific admin assignments assigned to specific people...ie jimbo brings the bbq, hot rod cop brings the bad ass camera, so on and so forth. end rant

This the exacy reason why we are changeing the group into a club. Things like this wont have to be in the back of your mind, it will be handeled already. Its not going to be a club where so and so says this and so an so says that. Its still going to be a hangout out like it has been, just alot more organized. Plus sponsership and dues will help us when money is tight for us and we cant afford the $10 parking fee, it will be paid for. Or if we need a reservation somewhere it will be taken care of. All we are trying to do is make it easier for everyone else to just come out and enjoy themselves with no worries

Great feed back so far guys, keep up the good work.

By the way I would like to nominate myself as VP or Treasurer

this is exactly why we should have people in certain postions to handle stuff..but it wouldnt be like one specific person makes desicions it would be a majorty rules on everything but the "heiarcy" would be the ones to worry about **** that the everyday memeber doesnt want/need too..and like i said i dont have to be the president i was just stepping up and saying i will do the job if everyone is cool with it..and as for people going on a power trip i dont think that would happen either and if they do what does it matter there not ur employer and this isnt a blood in blood out deal i mean i would hate for it to get to a situation to where people are dropping out because they dont like something or someone hopefully they will speak there mind instead of just bouncing out because this group is growing and i get a couple emails aday asking about us.. so people are noticing so its up to us to make it better for us

Sounds good to me. thanks for the second.

I would go president, but when the shop opens i wont have the time to do it. But i will support in any way that i can.

I beleive that if it gets to the point where we start getting out of control that we either step down or get replaced by someone else by votes. We can also hold votes at meets/web site to get the people to there position and/or removed from position

no leaders/presidents!!!

council FTW

we should have a representative from each area and agree on certain things for the club and certain meets

and the idea of dues is fine with me as long as its not too much each month AND it will be a concern of mine who is handling the group's money

I agree with you guys, but dont you think that there should be a single contac for the info we need then they do the research and what not to back to you. Then we can have a council for the different chapters
