Canada Traffic question for SoCal residents...

Hey all. Myself and some friends are taking a trip to Anaheim / LA in April, and I was wondering if anyone could help me with some traffic info.

On a couple of days, we are going to be driving to Six Flags: Magic Mountain, attempting to arrive around 10 AM. The concern I have is the rush hour traffic on the highways and in the Valencia and Anaheim areas and in between.

I do know that the trip from our hotel to Magic Mountain is approximately 1 hour, but I imagine that can become longer during congested periods.

Any info anyone can provide me to better plan our trips from the Anaheim area to the Valencia area lets say, leaving around 8-8:30 am, would be much appreciated.

Thanks in advance guys,

-Mark

either way, your in the LA area and there is ALWAYS traffic. always! just early no matter what. plus, when you get there you will be in a huge ass line. i got there early too. about 0900, i think i was 300th or more in line...

that is just sitting in my car

There are a few routes you could take, but from Anaheim your best bet would be to leave earlier the traffic is slow but moving. Since your not from Ca. your best bet would be to Take the 5 fwy North all the way to Valencia or when you are ready I can tell you another way but it would involve more fwys once you pass through L.A you should be fine around 8:30.

Well your going to six flag during the weekend (sat, sun) probably is going to take you like one hour and forty five min. it could be less or more and one suggestion try to leave your hotel before 8:00 am

Thanks man. we will be going on weekdays, so I am hoping it will be less congested.

Thanks. The route that I had planned to take the #5 straight to the park, so thank you for confirming my correct choice. Again, as mentioned above, we will be going on weekdays, so hopefully the lineups to the park will be less; especially in spring, however I do expect more traffic congestion during the trip there.

If you do have a better route that I could take that you think could get me there faster, we will be traveling with a laptop based gps, and I am also familiarizing myself quite well with the LA highway system and areas. My only real concern in traveling around the LA area is missing turn offs on the highways. I'm pretty savvy when it comes to driving, sometimes I almost think I was born an LA driver.

Thanks dood. We are going on weekdays, how do you think that will differ from the weekend?

I keep thinking about the work week rush hour period, which, if LA is anything like Calgary, is not as busy on sat and sun mornings as it is during the week, when everyone is rushing to work at the same time.

Thanks again for all your input guys, any more info you can provide as always is much appreciated.

Cheers,

Mark.
