i guess the issue or questions are how to make this fit on the cobalt, this section looks like it would replace a big section if not the entire downpipe, you have to remember LNF's don't have a two piece downpipe with a separate up-pipe and midpipe like on a lot of other turbo'd . So is this piece truly bolt on? Idk it seems like a cool idea, wish it was louder like an o2 dump but its a step in the right direction for people i guess

BlkWdoSS 08-18-2012 02:23 AM

you should start offering the Sound Performance quick spool valve ;)

JacBlackSS/TC 08-18-2012 09:32 AM

anyone could buy the quick spool valve its universal if you have a t3,t4,t6 housing

My s2000 gained 43whp between open down pipe and a 3 inch exhaust

TommyP 08-18-2012 09:58 AM

Lol I just brought these up a week ago. You didn't happen to see my post did you? Or is this just a coincidence. I'm surprised it's taken the cobalt world so long to catch on to these.

It would be the same way as putting in an electric cutout now, you gotta weld in a new section to the downpipe. No cutout is gonna be bolt in on a cobalt.

Nfamous60 08-18-2012 02:32 PM

so wut would u need to fit this would i have to replace my hahn 3in exhaust ?...I am also bout to order the ZZP exhaust manifold and i need a new downpipe so this is why i ask..

two things, first you should play the lottery b/c you just brought these up the other day lol second i figured that much, but it looks like the example pipe on the supra is extremely long, so not too sure how much cutting and welding will be required... idk

TommyP 08-18-2012 09:53 PM

You would only need to "Y" off the bend on the downpipe like that first picture shows. That's how electric cutouts are installed now. No matter what you will need to do some cutting and welding.

Yes and anyone could buy this cutout from sound performance, that is not the point, if TH Motorsports offered it I could get it from them for possibly a better price.

no i totally misread the post, i thought they were offering a down pipe, the Y is all you are getting to begin with

Nfamous60 08-19-2012 01:53 AM

so your getting the pipe for $349 and the additional Y pipe?......never seen a bolt with a 4in exhaust.

Lol I remember that thread too..

I'd be interested in one of these if it didn't require pain in the ass of getting it welded onto the DP. Maybe sometime down the road though...

Definitely waiting to see some videos of guys on here that purchase one.

thmotorsports 08-21-2012 11:34 AM

Lots of questions to take on here. Hopefully I can put a lot of this to rest.

I believe it. That F20/22 motor loves to breathe!

Agreed. It must be weld in. This will never be direct bolt in.

You dont have to replace an exhaust. This is very simple. The unit is placed in line anywhere on your exhaust system piping. The best placement and the most logical is at the bottom of your downpipe or in-line with the downpipe. Get the exhaust system you want. Bolt on your new exhaust system then go to a reputable exhaust shop and have the cut-out installed in line.

You could but the point here is that we offer better customer service, we are easily accessible for any questions and we offer a better price that Sound Performance does online. Want to order from the source? Sure! Place your order with SP any day, I'm glad to support my buddies over there but they are tough to get on the phone sometime.

Pricing is very clear above. You purchase the cut-out. any additional Y-Pipe would be extra.

Wish I had known when I bought mine, Im a cobalt owner that isnt too scared to use them. As far as I know, Im the only cobalt owner that uses one.

I agree with it being hard to get SP on the phone, it took me several days at times while I was waiting on getting the valve.

Im actually going to remove the Hobbs switch and go with a custom setup. I hate having the extra wiring and solenoids with no place to mount them.

That's awesome that you're using the SP QSV !!! I thought no one on the Cobalt community used one. That's awesome. PM me and I'd like to ask you some more questions about your setup.

Thank you!

Absolutely genius!

I'd do this now that I want to run a catted dp. No loss now, only gains!

BlackhawkSS 08-22-2012 12:32 PM

wanted to bump this to see if anyone has brought into this yet, where is the quick spool link?

thmotorsports 10-10-2012 02:40 PM

Back up top!

Nfamous60 10-11-2012 01:18 AM

no one has brought this yet...smh well im in to buy in 2weeks, th motorsports how much are you offering the qsv for?

Squints 10-11-2012 06:15 PM

Ny chance of teaming up with someone and offering the cutoff already attached to the dp that would be a definite buy for me

Nfamous60 10-11-2012 11:52 PM

everyone had a diff downpipe, not sure if they iffer maybe the treadstone downpipe, treadstone has a combo buy for their intake and downpipe for $400 str8.

Squints 10-12-2012 12:03 AM

Just saying it would be a good addition. Add the cutoff to the dp and sell as a package deal
