which is the best? i am not to worry about price. but i know there is a brembo kit, z06 convertion, SSBC, are the more? comments?

 

I've got the zo6 conversion on my TA and its like dropping anchor every time I hit the brakes

 

do your or anyone know what brakes are interchangible? part numbers?

 

your best bet is doing some research, iknow you can get cadillac CTS V Brembo calipers off ebay for like 300 bucks, or 160 new from gm parts direct, and your probably better off building ur own. i've been looking at the ctsv/brembo setup for both my camaro and cobalt. theres a guy on ls1 forums nearly done with the cts v setup. using the brembo calipers and corvette Z51 rotors since their thicker and fit the calipers.

 

yeah i have tried looking on the gm parts direct site and i must be searching wrong, what should i be looking for? i have been looking under the 5x110 bolt pattern

 

what are u looking for? just the calipers? if its the calipers, heres a link it has the calipers listed w/ pads, i'm sure they can get w/o pads and be a lil cheaper. those are just the brembo 4 piston calipers, then it would be a matter of matching a rotor and a bracket.

 

SSBC is the best IMO.

i am looking for the whole kit, if TTR gets the brake package then i wont worry about it. but rotors, lines, pads, calipers.

 

the SSBC setup is not bad at all. Getting the parking brake to work is kind of tricky though

 

It must be tricky on all kits, as the Cavalier members have had a couple issues also, but so does the baer kit we hear....

IMO e brake is the last thing, the stopping power is what I look for

 

yeah you could leave it in gear. but i would like to keep the e-brake


Aaron so you know about how long the install time is for the SSBC kit front and rear? also whatever happened to that BBK you guys where custom making?

If you do a search on here for "ssbc" I have 2 threads on here with pictures of the kits. One from when they were black calipers and one from when I had the custom engraved "cobalt" calipers. Install is very straight forward. Unbolt old stuff, and the new stuff goes on. I'd say like an hour a corner if you do it by yourself. Working there has it's advantages

 

ok i am not 100% on the BBK b/c i worry about having to get new wheels and all that (stock 17s '08)

i just went to my local dealership and got a price for the zo6 rotors and calipers
they said 750 for the front and 750 for the back

Cobalt has a kit for the zo6 setup... you need 18's and not the stock ss/sc ones as it sounds like there are some issues with clearing the caliper... link:

i have number 3 all around those are ebc rotors i love them with ebc pads there awesome

 

SSBC bbk WILL clear the stock wheels. I never had aftermarket wheels on my car when I had it.

 

yeah good to know, are you 18'' or 17''? i am still thinking on if i should go BBK or change out everything stock size but the calipers

I had the 18's on my car. Should clear the ss/na 17's as well.

 

how do you post pics to your messages? If I knew I could send you an interesting brake set up for Cobalt/Ion with Performance friction rotors and CTSV rear brembos. ..but as I worked on this I concluded that for dollars expended, the stock caliper will work almost as well...just not look as good....
